A Real Warning (Revelation 13, the Beast)
A Real Warning (Revelation 13, the Beast)
The beast is a proper idol whose primary goal is to stand against God. Its hour has no middle ground, for one is either named in the Book of Life, or they serve the beast without repentance. It begins with no mention of morality, inviting all to join. Please, for the sake of wisdom and respect for Scripture, do not deceive yourself into thinking you must like your idols in order for them to control you. If such was the case then slothfulness and depression would be virtues, along with all unhappy snares. Idols just need you to be an ant who bows around the rock, straying from the straight and narrow; affection is gratuity.

The Woman and the Dragon (Revelation 12)
The Woman and the Dragon (Revelation 12)
Revelation 12 draws us to one of the most heinous and personal battles throughout all Scripture, and learning from this chapter does wonders for a Christian worldview. In it, we are privy to many things: that God has truly made many lands; that certain angels did reject God in the face of all heaven; that the spiritual warfare both demands and sheds the blood of all who enter; that the devil has deceived on many worlds; that evil lacks reason, except to destroy aught good; and most importantly, that the light does cast out the darkness, with the Blood of the Lamb surpassing all.

The Land of the Living
The Land of the Living
If there is any son of Adam’s to whom Psalm 27 applies, it is that thief on the cross. Forsaken by the world in every possible way, he is trapped in a moment of raw finality. There is no chance to distract his spirit, to be blinded to eternity by the mundane trappings of life; instead, he is hanging in that moment between mortal injury and last breath. His own folly has led him unto death, and his neighbors have despised him on a cross. Indeed, he would have fainted, sundered into hell, but the Lord took him up; and, on that day he saw the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

The Two Prophets (Revelation 11)
The Two Prophets are indeed two prophets: their message comes from God, their power comes from God, and the opposition they face is opposition against God. The world is not happy to hear their message, because the world is not happy to face reality. Everything fallen and sinful much prefers to bewitch itself with falsehoods and scams than to ever consider the truth. Yet, wisdom is vindicated by her deeds, and the faithfulness of the prophets is so great that it brings hope into an age of evil.

The Little Book (Revelation 10)
The Little Book (Revelation 10)
Of all things unusual, John is presented with the angel’s little book to eat. With the book is something tangible, something real and material, and once partaken it becomes a part of John. Hitherto this moment, John has been many things, but his work is yet complete, for he still has many prophetic words to spread throughout the church. Indeed, we today are listening to his words, which were not his own, but rather words which came from on high. Once he has eaten the book, he cannot go back; all its bitterness, all its honey, he must receive in full.

Two Ways (Revelation 9)
Two Ways (Revelation 9)
There are but two ways: the way of life and the way of death, and a great distinction is between the two. In Revelation 9, there are those afflicted by the seventh seal and those covered by the Lord. If we are watchful, ready, and doing the Lord’s work, then we have nothing to worry.

Silence (Revelation 8)
Silence (Revelation 8)
When above all heaven the final seal was loosed, there was only one reaction from those who saw: silence. For a half hour, all angels, all saints, and all stirring came to a halt. Every stirring which had thus livened heaven becomes reverent and mute, for they know what hour it is. God knew the suffering of His people, the lamentation of earth, even now the heavenly dwellers understand what comes with this seal. God’s justice, which prepared every opportunity and hour for repentance, is now breaking forth as it has never before, and with it will come woe and gnashing of teeth.

The Seal of the Faithful (Revelation 7)
Revelation 7 fulfills the blessings taught to us in earlier Scripture, for God really does want to save His People. Throughout Scripture, we see God promising to deliver a remnant, from whence miracles betide and revivals erupt. Never has God forgotten His People, and even in hours of calamity the King is faithful.

The Deed beyond All Worlds (Revelation 5)
The Deed beyond All Worlds (Revelation 5)
Neither above nor below, among the living nor the dead, is one found of worth. None have lived a worthwhile life, and none may touch the seals of the scroll nor even look upon the blessed text. Its honor is beyond all earthly affairs, and even beyond those mature angels of heaven. In a calamity of calamities, not one soul is worthy, and John gives the only reasonable response: he weeps. Yet, God still wants to redeem. Undoubtedly, some will be condemned, but God still wants to forgive and encourage His creatures. Therefore, and despite our total lack of merit, Jesus came forth and offered Himself as the one worthy to redeem all creation. (Church of the Nazarene)

I Know Thy Works (Revelation 2)
I Know Thy Works (Revelation 2)
At the heart of Christianity is the forgiveness of sin: the recognition that we have done things we ought not do, and the Lord suffered and died to provide redemption.
In Revelation chapters 2 and 3, Jesus sends letters to seven churches in Asia. Some of these churches receive a swifter rebuke than others, and some are simply praised. The one theme that glues all these letters together is this: don’t merely embrace the Faith as you want it to be, but rather as it actually is. The Way of Life, that is, Christianity, must be received in full. To parse it out it is to reject it, to exchange its truth for a lie. Inasmuch as Jesus’ tunic could not be divided by those who crucified him, neither can His commandments be divided by His Family (Church of the Nazarene Bible Study)
