It's Good to be King (Tom Petty Cover)

This is the third release of 5 songs recorded at Strawhorse Studios in Los Angeles, CA with an acclaimed group of musicians come to be known as 'The Politics of Sound'. The entire session was recorded live on February 6th, 2019 and filmed by the great cinematographer John Orphan.
With some reservation I chose to cover a rather poignant song from Tom Petty's acclaimed album 'Wildflowers' produced by the great Rick Rubin. Tom Petty is easily one of the most prolific American rock songwriters known and loved by people of all ages & walks of life. Tom Petty had perspective and mojo that can only be experienced when listening to his music. At the very least I hoped to live up to the challenge of delivering his songs to the best of my ability. In all fairness, I think we did right by him and the fabulous Heartbreakers. RIP Tom Petty. Thanks for the incredible music!

Lyrics:
Wild Heart
I can't be saddled, no I can't be bound
I'm a vagabond here in tinsel town
You build that wall and I'll knock it down
You're gonna figure out if you don't know by now
I've got a wild heart, I've got a restless soul
I've got a raging fire down in my bones
Sometimes I go too far and I lose my way
Cus' wild hearts they just can't be tamed
I've got a wild heart and wild hearts never change
These outlaw hearts are meant to roam
They have no roots and they have no home
They just keep running til' they're out of road
Mighty hard to hold, a constant rolling stone
I've got a wild heart, I've got a restless soul
I've got a raging fire down in my bones
Sometimes I go too far and I lose my way
Cus' wild hearts they just can't be tamed
I've got a wild heart and wild hearts never change
Is hard my friend and chances are I'll run again
If you draw that line I swear I'll cross it every time
So if you choose to stay just know my dear their ain't no way
I'll ever settle down, I'm forever lost and found.
I've got a wild heart, I've got a restless soul
I've got a raging fire down in my bones
Sometimes I go too far and I lose my way
Cus' wild hearts they just can't be tamed
I've got a wild heart and wild hearts never change
I've got wild heart, I've got a wild heart, yeah I've got a wild heart

Lyrics:
Road That I Paved
Sometimes I wonder how I’ve ever gotten this far
I guess I’m just lucky or is my fate born in the stars
I long for a purpose but I know at the end of the day
I’m just a traveler on this road that I paved
This road that I paved
I’d like to believe that I’m just getting wiser with age
But life is a riddle and the answers continually change
If I’ve learned just a little it’s that I have but myself to blame
For any misfortune on this road that I paved
This road that I paved
You spend your whole life trying to keep all four wheels on the tracks
'Cause once you jump ship, yeah that’s time that you’ll never get back
The sins of my father I’ll carry with me to my grave
But it’s my children’s future that I keep on trying to change
It all seems so futile 'cause they’ll have to find their own way
We’re all just travelers on this road that we pave
Destined to lie down in this bed that we’ve made
I’m just a sideshow in a one man parade
A long distance traveler on this road that I paved
This road that I paved
