Rays for Days :D! Jetty Fishing in Seal Beach CA!
In this video, I mainly do some good ole jetty fishing over in Seal Beach CA! Started off as a slow day, wasn't getting any bites at first, then it turned into a rays for days if you will haha. Caught a lot of different random fish: Thornback rays, Round Stingrays, Shovelnose Guitarfish, Yellowfin Croakers, even a Leopard Shark! Overall, had 8 total catches, it was definitely rays for days! Everything was caught and released, I used to come to this jetty a lot as a kid with my dad, I should come back here more often. I love jetty fishing in seal beach, there was also a lot of junk that washed up and got stuck to the jetty, I also found my lanyard, somehow got that lucky. Don gave me this lanyard years ago, it's sturdy and it's my favorite, woulda sucked to lose it.

#firstfishfreedom is a tradition that I started a while back. The basis for this tradition is to release the first fish you catch, regardless of what it is (prized, PB, good eats, maybe even world record someday haha). I will only keep the first fish if it is gravely wounded or gut shotted (and a species I can legally keep). If I keep the first fish, then I will pass on the tradition to the second fish, and so forth. Any day of fishing is a blessing, catching a fish and beating the skunk is another blessing on top of that, so I want to return that blessing and luck back to the fish, so they may live another day, get bigger, and maybe I catch them again in the future c:

Fishing On The "Reel Fun" :D! Charter Fishing In Dana Point, CA!
In this video, Amber and I head down to Dana Point, CA to do some charter boat fishing on Dana Point Sportfishing's Reel Fun! We went on a 5 hour trip, a Sea Lion tried to steal our fish D: It was an amazing day of fishing, we caught lots of ocean whitefish! Like a lot of them, we threw a bunch back that were too smol. We also caught other fish such a juvenile vermilion rockfish (maybe?), California sculpins, and blacksmith perches. Amber and I always have a fun competition when we go charter fishing, she always seems to outfish me haha. It was pretty cool to see the California Sea Lion chase fish around from other anglers as well haha. Together, we got a total of 25 catches, lot's of releases but we kept 10 whitefish c:

Ever Tried Eating Rock Wrasse... xD? Jetty Fishing Catch And Cook Dana Point, CA
In this video, I do a catch and cook while jetty fishing in Dana Point, CA! It's was supposed to be surfperch catch and cook, but I ended up doing a really fun Rock Wrasse catch and cook on the jetty :D This recipe is as simple as simple gets, all it is was fried rock wrasse in corn oil, then seasoned with one soy sauce packet. The dish itself was okay, I'd only give it a 3/5, but it was good enough for me c: It was a great day of fishing, lost a huge bat ray but that was okay, caught one dinky black surfperch or butter perch, and caught a dinky California sculpin as well. Two Rock Wrasses were caught then cooked up towards the end :D

In this video, I ended up fishing the cliffs down here in San Diego, CA! Also caught a nice California Sheephead c: First time doing some san diego cliff fishing, lots of surprises! Also caught a Garibaldi, Giant Kelpfish, and ended the day with a dinky Calico Bass. All catch and release today, might start doing some more catch and cooks soon. Surf Fishing Up In NorCal :D! Pacifica CA
In this video, I do some surf fishing at the beach up in NorCal! Hopefully, it'll be an annual event and you guys can check it out for yourself in the future, lots of fishing goodies c: Afterwards, we headed over to Pacifica, CA to do some surf fishing. It was a really cold and rough day in terms of fishing, only managed to catch one Walleye Surfperch, but I also included a bunch of simple fishing tips and tricks for safety, surf fishing, and surfperch fishing in general. While it was a slow day of fishing, it was still a nice good day as it's been a while since I managed to go out and do any type of fishing, still had a lot of fun. I do enjoy fishing in NorCal, the waters are very different in both conditions and fish they relatively hold so next time I'll plan more accordingly c:

Sheephead, Cabby, and Fantail Sole :D?! Jetty Fishing Newport Beach, CA, FT. Max
In this video, I'm just fishing and chilling in Newport Beach CA with my buddy Max. First catch, a Fantail Sole, super cool flounder! Mackerel, halfmoons, and most surprisingly, 2 Cabezons were also caught by fellow Anglers! I thought there were super rare down here :o, maybe they're not that as rare. I foul hooked a Butter Perch, whoopsie, but I let him go right away. Misstepped, be careful when you guys are out there here. Next was a cool Blacksmith, super neat fish. Then I catch my first California Sheephead from that spot, never have I ever caught one there. Overall, a really great day of fishing, I lost some footage cause GoPro done goofed itself, probably memory card getting potatoed but it's okay, there was still plenty of footage. Max caught a California Sand Star, so that was also really funny.

Fishing On A Cozy Mini Cliff ᐠ( ᐛ )ᐟ Corona Del Mar, CA
In this video, I do some simple surf fishing with bait and waits. I find a nice cozy spot on this mini cliff that overlooks the beach to fish, landing a few silly simple fishes such as a round stingray and a bat ray. Overall, it was a very relaxing day of fishing. This is also the first video that features asking Eagle Claw to sponsor me, I think it'll take maybe 30 videos before someone notices haha, hopefully sooner. I also took some time to talk about the Okuma Rox, a very budget-friendly rod that is very versatile and easy to use. If you're not sure what rod to pick up to start fishing for the first time, this one is a good contender for it c: Overall, I'm glad I found and was able to do some fishing and chilling on this cozy mini cliff in Corona Del Mar, CA. I'm still looking for new spots to check out but I am definitely going to come back here the next chance I get!

01:43 Fishing Safety Tips when fishing from rocks or mini cliffs
02:17 Actual fishing starts here, with our first catch, the humble sea pancake, or round stingray!
03:11 The Okuma Rox, a great budget-friendly general-purpose inshore fishing rod
04:00 As you would expect with bait and wait, you have to wait, so might as well relax and enjoy yourself with a quick snack. Also stay hydrated!
04:34: Second catch, a neat bat ray! It's been a while since I caught a bat ray, they're really cool sea birds haha
05:15 Bite slowed down, moving spots. Tried actually fishing the surf, no dice. But there were some nice sand crab beds, so there should be some fish waiting in the surf if it wasn't so seaweedy
06:24 Sandcrab Gathering Tip: Use a net, it's hard to get good-sized ones just using your hands. Bag limit is 50 daily!
07:09 Outro with concluding remarks, too seaweedy to actually fish the surf, will try again next time!

Rockfish Limit, On A 4 Hour Trip :O?! Charter Fishing J&M Sportfishing in Monterey Bay, CA
In this video, Amber and I head up to Monterey Bay, CA to do some charter boat rockfish fishing! We went out with J&M Sportfishing, a charter which we have used many times in the past, always with pretty good results. I always talk about how amazing the fishing is in Monterey, and having the whole boat catch its limit within a 4-hour time frame is phenomenal results, if I do say so myself!
Catches for today were of various rockfish such as Blue Rockfish, Rosy Rockfish, Olive Rockfish, and Gopher Rockfish. Also as a bonus, we were able to do some whale watching because we finished our charter fishing session ahead of schedule :D. Great day for fishing, big shoutout to both Monterey Fish Co. for their excellent selection of fresh bait which caught various fish for this trip, and J&M Sportfishing for always being dependable for some good fishing c:

Shoutout to Monterey Fish Co. They are located at the end of the Fisherman's Wharf, in which they sell a variety of seafood products which include lots of fresh locally caught fish! They also have lots of variety in terms of fishing bait too, if you were planning to purchase bait instead of food. Very fresh seafood!

Fishing with Fred the Sea Lion ᐠ( ᐛ )ᐟ Jetty Fishing Newport Beach, CA!
In this video, I head out to do some jetty fishing at Newport Beach, CA! A California Sea Lion also makes a special appearance c: This episode was a really fun one, one that I think is pretty worthy of a 200 subscriber special, very silly chilling and fishing! Today was all about catch and release, as it was a blessing to get this far, so why not return the favor to all the fish I caught today? We even managed to make a new friend, Fred the California Sea Lion (or at least I think he's a tiny sea lion) who was sunbathing for a good chunk of time next to me. Please do not mess with wild animals, no matter how cute and cuddly they look haha. The total for catches today was 5, with 2 Halfmoons, 1 Giant Kelpfish, and 2 California Sculpins. Overall, a really fun day of fishing, more to come! Thank you again to all my subscribers who have supported this channel since the beginning, especially my wife Amber for her encouragement and support! We wouldn't have been able to get here without each and every one of you, so let's shoot for the moon together :D

How Neat Are Sculpins :D!? Chilling and Jetty Fishing Dana Point, CA
In this video, I once again head out to do some simple and easy jetty fishing out in Dana Point, CA. Frozen head-on shrimp was the bait I used for the entire trip. A great day of fishing for both great weather and fun catches! Caught 6 different species (Rock wrasse, Senorita fish, California Sculpin, Blacksmith fish, Halfmoon fish, Pacific Sanddab) with 9 total catches this session. Overall, couldn't have asked for a better day for some chilling and fishing here in Dana Point c: Technically, the catch of the day is the California Sculpin, I think Sculpins are neat fish! Just be very careful with them, their dorsal, pelvic, and anal fin spikes house their venom glands!

Sheephead From The Jetty :D? Chilling and Fishing Dana Point, CA
In this video, I head out to do some jetty fishing out in Dana Point, CA, and ended up catching a Sheephead from the jetty? Haha :D Using my simple and basic favorite high-low rig with a 2 oz torpedo and 2 size #6 hooks, I rig it up with pieces of fresh frozen shrimp. The California Sheepshead surprised me, as it was something I've never caught before there so that was really cool beans. Then I caught a smol Black Surfperch, which was also a pretty fun catch. While releasing the California Sheephead, I had a fishing fail so it got really cold really quick and I had to leave early, but it was still a great day of chilling and fishing in Dana Point.
Edit: A subscriber let me know that the California Sheephead was actually a female in the process of transitioning to a male! Very cool fun fact and we got to capture on video c:

Which Is Bait Is Better? Shromp Or Squib ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Rock Fishing Monterey, CA
In this video, I go rock fishing in Monterey CA, and catch some really nice surfperches! As usual, this spot is highly productive, I caught 4 striped surfperch, 2 of them were huge and 2 I released. I wanted to do another "For science!" video, the ones where I do bait testing and see how well they do. Haven't done one in a while so it's always a nice change of pace to mix things up, especially up here in Monterey, where the fishing is fantastic, and I mention how amazing fishing is up here all the time haha. For the shrimp vs. squid bait test, the results were 3 on shrimp bait and 1 on squid bait. Overall, shrimp won this bait testing but that doesn't mean squid lost. Squid only lost in this setting, but it's always good to familiarize yourself with what is certain species prefer. In this case, I think striped surfperch prefer shrimp, nothing is set in stone, give it a shot and see what results you might get!

Rockfish And Crab Combo :D! Charter Fishing Monterey, CA
In this video, Amber and I go on a crabbing and rockfishing charter combo with J&M Sportfishing in Monterey CA again! This one takes you out to crab and fish for rockfish at the same time. The rockfish segment is brief as it focuses more on crabbing, but still a nice breath of fresh air c: A super fun trip, super nice huge crabs, and neat rockfish. The crabs that were caught were Dungeness crabs and red rock crabs, I think there was a stone rock crab but I'm not sure. For the rockfish, I only caught gopher rockfish, as well as one copper rockfish. These rockfish are really beautiful :) Had a really fun day, big shoutout to J&M Sportfishing, excellent service and friendly people as always, 10/10 would go again :D

05:19 A fellow angler spared me a huge jighead + swimbait combo as the weight and lure. I have a shrimp fly higher up c: also showcasing my gear
05:45 The rig snapped :c so I remade one with a leftover shrimp fly attached to a 6 oz torpedo. The thought process was to dangle down into crevices and entice fish out, which worked out for me lol
06:09 First rockfish, a gopher rockfish :D unfortunately can't #firstfishfreedom this guy, rockfish super deep get the bends when reeled up. No #firstfishfreedom this video, which is okay because we aren't going to waste the fish, they went to a good friend and family c:
06:44 Rock fish fishing tip (gopher rockfish) explained with multiple catches
Crabbing Segment Part 2:
08:32 Back to Crabbing c:
08:45 Refilling crab bait jars with leftover bait, donated from my bait (I didn't catch anything with my sardines lol) as well as other baits from other anglers. We all chipped in to help the next crew's haul!
09:17 Just a bunch of crabbing shots, sit back and enjoy c:
09:51 A pregnant female Dungeness crab, you gotta them back the pregnant ones so they may make more crabs!
10:55 A crabs and a giant Pacific Sea Nettle in the crab pot
11:30 Back in the harbor, the trip is over, outro, thanks for watching!

Huge Surfperch :D?! Rock Fishing Monterey CA
In this video, I give rock fishing (mini cliff fishing?) a try in Monterey CA :D Found a nice spot to try to fish, caught some huge surfperch, and also ended up catching a good amount of quality fish overall! The first fish was a black surfperch, followed by a dinky striped surfperch, another black surfperch, and again a dinky striped surfperch before the sun runs out. While fishing, I also included a few general fishing tips, rock fishing tips, safety fishing tips, and good fishing practice tips to help spread some knowledge when fishing spots like these.
Timestamps: For Your Convenience :)
00:00 Beginning
00:30 General Fishing Tip: Fish around structures, whether it be rocks, kelp, pier piling, sand troughs, or etc.
00:49 Rod for the day: Okuma Nomad Express + Daiwa BG 4500, setting up and getting ready
01:27 Rocky Structure Fishing Tip: Tighten your drag before casting, reel in fast when a fish bites, don't let it swim into rocks!
01:35 General Fishing Tip: Fishing calmer areas in rough waters can be good, some big fish may be resting there
01:44 Important Safety Tip: When fishing these areas, watch your surrounding and footing. Fish safely!
02:21 #firstfishfreedom a slab black surfperch!
02:41 My new tape measurer, I'ma call him Pastulio
03:47 Rocky Structure Fishing Tip: When fishing close to the water + during low tide, watch where you step on the rocks, it could be deceptively slippery
04:08 Next fish, a dinky striped surfperch c:
05:13 Next fish, another slab of a black surfperch :D
05:37 Random bird down by the rocks, not sure what species, let me know if you guys can tell
06:28 Good Fishing Practice: Always pick up your trash and trash around you, just do it safely :D
06:47 Last fish of the day, another dinky striped surfperch c:
07:30 Outro and concluding thoughts

Striped Surfperch Are Pretty Cool B) Coast Guard Pier, CA
In this video, I planned to fish Coast Guard Wharf or Pier, except they were closed due to maintenance. So instead I fished Coast Guard Jetty or Breakwater, because you're allowed to fish there as well c:. The adjacent beach is a popular diving spot so just be careful, don't cast too far out if you see divers around. Safety first! I catch my first every striped surfperch while setting up, it was a nice big one. These guys are average up here! I also met some fun friendly locals, it was a little angler's birthday, so happy birthday, nice 2lb striped surfperch you landed as well! I caught a second striped surfperch which I gave to the family as well. I had a blast seeing all the pacific nettle at fisherman's wharf, as well as fishing Coast guard jetty, it is always a blast fishing in Monterey :) top tier city to fish.
Timestamps: For Your Convenience :)
00:00 Beginning
00:30 First fish of the day, striped surfperch, first one I ever caught :D, really pretty fish
01:01 Releasing Mr. Striped Surfperch for first fish freedom, also a catch and release day c:
01:20 Reusing tiny piece of leftover shrimp, rebaiting is always better but I'm just lazy sometimes :P
01:41 Proper introduction because I caught the first fish before setting up everything
02:45 Okuma nomad express, very convenient on the go if you like to travel and fish (This one is Extra Heavy not Medium Heavy whoops). You can pick a lighter model, Daiwa BG series are also amazing saltwater reels!
03:15 Talking and showing very small clips at Fisherman's wharf, with all the Pacific Nettle in the water.
04:00 Talking a little bit about why Monterey is so productive for fishing.
04:45 Next fish, another slab striped surfperch :D locals say these are good eats, and they're averaged sized like that here.
05:13 Chatting with some locals, everyone here in Monterey is still so super nice :D I love meeting with people and getting to know them here c: I also offer them my fish, there was a little angler and it was his birthday, I'm sure I made their day by offering them the nice big fish.
06:37 Intro for Amber's rod, a Daiwa G-Shock. I'll check the specs for that and the reel, Pflueger President when I can because I stashed my gear away in the meantime because of the weather.
07:23 Small little shoutout for little angler, Happy Birthday Man, hope you like to fish, it is a really relaxing sport to get into c:
07:54 Quick fishing tip, if you aren't getting bites soon, try swapping to a different bait. Having a different bait on a different rod is good too :D
08:03 Packing up, getting ready to go, outro

How To Fish The Jetty :D! Dana Point, CA
In this video, I go fishing with my friend Danny. We fished the jetty over at Dana Point CA, caught a lot of cool fish, and I also give a bit of fishing tips and tricks here and there c: I wanted to make a new video that was the same style as my videos, but also a good way to introduce myself to new viewers. I think it was pretty good at least haha. I fished with shrimp, long rods, tiny rods, random baits, lots of fun. Jetty fishing and bait testing, a great way to spend the day :D We caught a lot of black perch and opaleyes, the black perch was interesting because there's a lot of variation between them. Opaleyes are neat as always, with their bright blue eyes. We weren't targeting anything big, just a quick fun hang out session. I was expecting the nightcrawler to not work, but I really thought the whiskey flavor from the alien beef jerky would work. I can always try them out some other time c: One thing I forgot to mention more in this video is about safety. #Safety should be your number 1 priority, when fishing always #observeyoursurroundings and be #alert. Wear durable clothing and good traction footwear.

04:37 Opaleye on the tiny pen fishing rod. Neat looking fish. Then caught a dinky black perch. Then caught an opaleye
06:15 Testing out nightcrawlers as bait really quick, didn't work
06:46 Testing out Alien Fresh Jerky Whiskey Beef Jerky Flavor, also didn't work
07:12 Swapping back to good ole reliable shrimp bait, I usually do bait testing videos on their own. Got another black perch. Talking a bit here and there

07:50 Another fish, pretty eyed opaleye that bonked me haha

Birch Aquarium At Scripps Walkthrough :D! San Diego, CA
In this video, Amber and I are exploring the Birch Aquarium at Scripps in La Jolla and San Diego, California :D We got to see a lot of really cool fish from California's Coastal Biomes :O. It's a mini birthday getaway for me and I love aquariums so Amber found this neat one to take me to. There's a lot that goes on in this video, I wanted to make it more visual than commentary, so there is very little commentary after the intro section. Not a fishing video but hopefully it's a nice change of pace to just kick back and relax c: There are too many fish seen here to be labeled but there are a lot of California Native Species in these exhibits to give you an idea of what we have in our waters, such as the intertidal exhibits or the giant kelp forest exhibits. There was also a lot of cool fish and such, like Garibaldi, Opaleye, shark eggs (also known as mermaid purses), Yellowfin Croaker, Rockfish, Halibut, and the rare Giant Black Sea bass!
Timestamps: For Your Convenience :)
00:00 Intro
00:40 Walking into The Birch Aquarium c:
00:50 Sardine tank in the main lobby
01:12 Checking out the small tidepool exhibits
02:16 Touch Tank Exhibit Segment c:
Inside Aquarium Exhibit Segment (Some sections are dark, sorry for that haha)
04:08 Start of indoor exhibits, sit back and enjoy c: This is more visual focused, very little commentary for audio. It's like this until the end of the video. No actual outro c:
11:35 One Seahorse Segment, maybe they're mating? Might be a seahorse mating ritual but I'm not too sure myself

Homemade Cat Food With Fresh Fish Recipe :D!
How to make homemade cat food from fresh fish, easy step-by-step instructions, and information about making cat food from fish you caught or bought from the store!
Homemade Cat Food Fish Fillet Recipe and Instructions:
(Double Check If Your Fish Is Safe For Cats First!)
1. Scale, fillet fish, and remove all bones (specifically pin bones if you fillet them properly unlike me haha)
2. Preheat oven (wash your hands prior to avoid contamination c:) to 375 °F
3. Place de-boned and cleaned fillets in aluminum foil and cover them to steam/ keep moisture in.
4. Set timer for 5 minutes and wait (you can use this time to clean up your workstation to make use of time :D)
5. Check on fish to see how it looks, then place back into the oven. Set another 5-minute timer then wait (have a container labeled to put your cooked fillets in).
6. At this point the fillets are already probably done cooking. I turn off the oven and let the ambient heat carry-over to the fillets for an extra 5 minutes, but that's just me
7. Take cooked fillets out and let them cool before handing
8. Check to see if fillets are done (fillets fall apart and flake very easily, if not then you can place it back into the oven and cook for another 5 minutes) then put them into your labeled Cat Food container.
9. Let homemade catfood cool off a bit more before serving or place in the refrigerator for later use!
Timestamps: For Your Convenience :)
00:00 Beginning
00:55 Thoughts on feeding stray cats, skip to cooking if not interested c:
02:40 Small fish showcase for fish and reasoning on why not to feed cats raw fish/ fish too often
04:13 Actual cooking segment start, cleaning up and filleting the fish
05:00 How to remove pin bones from a fish fillet poorly haha
06:09 Graphic Warning: Showing the fish guts and scraps, with a suggestion on what to do with them, using them as plant fertilizer
06:31 Preheat the oven to 375 °F with Fan and Bake setting, and place your fish fillets in aluminum foil
06:55 Do not season or add anything extra to your cat food fish fillets, it might irritate their digestive system
07:15 Cover the fillets with aluminum foil (extra or fold over edges) to trap heat and moisture, then put it in the preheated oven, then set a timer for 5 minutes initially
07:42 Check out the fish after 5 minutes have passed, and set a timer for another 5 minutes to check on it again. It's done right now but I let it chill in carry-over heat for another 5 minutes
08:28 Fully baked and ready cat food fish fillets :D You know they're done when the fillets break apart and flake easily
09:05 Finished product, mix a bit to add chunk size variety and you're all done :D
09:20 All done! Concluding thoughts and remarks c:
In this video, I turn some leftover fish into fresh homemade cat food! I show you how to turn fresh fish into simple and easy cat food! I use a very simple and easy no salt and seasoning recipe that could be used for any leftover fish. I thought of this because there are times that Amber and I go fishing on charter boats and have more than enough fish for ourselves and for friends/ family. This way, I can feed cats as well as not have fish stack up in the freezer until it is forgotten. Quick and easy bake recipe, you don’t have to use freshly caught fish, you can also use fish bought from the store, just don’t forget to double-check if it’s good eats for your cat!

*Disclaimer*: Double-check your state or county's regulations on feeding stray cats. Though I mentioned feeding stray cats in this video, the intent was more to show what you can with leftover fish/ provide a healthy meal for your own pets, as well as just providing my thoughts on stray cats in general.

Das Alotta Whitefish ᐠ( ᐛ )ᐟ Charter Fishing Oxnard, CA
In this video, Amber and I go on a charter boat fishing trip on a Charter boat in Oxnard, CA! We caught so many ocean whitefish! :D We also caught some blue rockfish, copper rockfish, starry rockfish, sharpnose seaperch, California sculpin, and pacific mackerel, but we mainly caught a lot of ocean whitefish. Some people on the boat also caught some nice-sized California Sheepshead as well! They put a really fun fight, had a really fun amazing day charter boat fishing. Remember, good ole reliable shrimp always saves the day! Charter boats are a great next step event after you've gotten into fishing, it's usually good catches, and catches back to back.
Timestamps: For Your Convenience :)
00:00 Beginning
01:05 First catch for Amber, a Mackerel c:
01:19 Cali Sheepshead from another angler on the boat c:
01:32 Regular Intro
03:01 Amber's Blue Rockfish :D, me losing my scrambled egg jig, a Cali Sculpin c:, me catching my Sculpin and releasing him for #firstfishfreedom
03:52 After squid wasn't working for me, swapped back to good ole reliable shrimp, caught a dinky starry rockfish. Bird going for the fish I just threw back. Caught an ocean whitefish right after on shrimp
05:33 Amber's sharpnose seaperch, first time I've seen them haha, another dinky starry rockfish for me, then another for Amber, another for me haha, then another.... lot's of dinky starries :P
06:39 Circle of life right here *shrug*
06:46 A whitefish for me c: then another one, then one for Amber, then for me, lots of whitefish
07:53 A deckhand handed me his rod while helping Amber re-rig, and I got tackled right away. A nice solid copper rockfish, I didn't have a good footage shot of him, you can see him at the end when I ice them.
08:09 More catches, more whitefish, loads of whitefish haha
10:02 A double whammy for Amber :D two whitefish for her c: then she lands another double whammy with whitefish and a mackerel haha. I catch a whitefish with a piece of mackerel, good to know! Then I almost get bonked by a double whitefish whammy from Amber.
12:27 Surface splashes within casting range, I swap to a baitfish looking jig and start lure playing. Landed myself a super chonky pacific mackerel, super stoked!
12:54 End of fishing, small outro conclusion and thoughts
13:22 Icing the fish, layering the ice to make sure everything stays fresh. It's important to layer your fish!

Fishing Newport Pier With My Buddy Max :D! Newport Beach, CA
In this video, my buddy Max and I are night fishing Newport Pier in Newport Beach, CA! Late-night fishing session we last-minute planned but we still caught a lot of fish! :D Max and I both dropped our rigs straight down or cast them out into the surf using shrimp. I talk about how easy it is to get into fishing at any pier because it's easy to access, you don't need a California Fishing License, and you can catch fish just by dropping your line down next to the pillars! We caught topsmelts, yellowfin croakers, possibly a white croaker, round stingrays, thornback rays, and even a new fish for me: a pacific staghorn sculpin! All were catch and release! I also go over how to appropriately handle gut shot fish. Overall, an amazing day of fishing with a great friend, doesn't get any better than that!
Timestamps: For Your Convenience :)
00:00 Beginning/ Intro, Setup: The Sven (10 lb braided, a Carolina rig,1/2 oz egg sinker, red bead, barrel swivel, 6 lb fluorocarbon leader, size 6 hook, piece of shrimp)
01:19 First fish! Simple smelty boi haha.
01:50 Information about fishing Newport Pier c: no need for a fishing license so it's a great place to try fishing if you're a beginner :D
02:51 Pier fishing information and fishing tips. Casting close next to mussel encrusted pillars is also as good as far casting, just pay attention and always watch your line!
03:32 Next catch for me c: a yellowfin croaker! Unfortunately, he was gut shotted, quick tutorial with how to handle this
05:04 Next catch for Max! It could be a white croaker (which you never want to keep or eat because they're contaminated in SoCal waters) or a yellowfin croaker with not-so-yellow fins.
06:03 Pier fishing/general tip: some fish feed at different depths of the water column, if you know what you're targeting and where they like to feed, this can be helpful! Also caught a pacific staghorn sculpin (new species for me!)
08:32 Pier fishing tip: You can catch fish dropping it down and casting it out! Bait and waits put out a scent for fish to find so it's still a viable option to see what's out there c:
09:40 Large thornback ray c: I let Max handle it with The Sven :D We also lifted it up slowly because I had 6 lb line (if they thrash, it could snap the line)
10:36 Thornback Ray showcase for local passersby c: but it's severely gut shotted :c
12:00 Next catch for me, a lil sea pancake.
12:50 Pier fishing tip: When to go. Early morning or late-night, weekdays, free parking after 6 PM for Newport Pier!
13:03 Next catch for me, another stingray c: also gut shotted :c
13:29 Concluding remarks, outro

BONITO BONANZA :D! Jetty Fishing At Newport Beach, CA
In this video, yah boi Sven goes first time Bonito fishing, this is also my cousins' first time Bonito fishing :D We head out on a jetty which I've heard is a good Bonito fishing spot. We wanted to go early morning jetty fishing and fish as the sun came up. Unfortunately, the Bonitos weren't there as early as we thought they were going to be, but after a few hours they came rushing in, and oh man did they not stop. It was a literal Bonito bonanza I tell yah. All of us were catching Bonito left and right, I landed a monster and PB for myself, a nice 2 lb and 15.5 incher! Just as we were about to call it quits, I hook into another one of these bad bois as I was casually talking and giving my thoughts, just comes to show you never know when they'll get yah, but when they do, they get yah quick! Beautiful fish, such neat patterns on them, and they're amazing fighters, you'll take your gear for a run!

00:00 Beginning
00:13 True Intro
01:13 Showing gear and setup that will be used for today
01:45 Showing how to tie a quick Palomar knot, a very strong fishing knot that you should know how to tie!
04:02 Explaining why you shouldn't generally use braid while fishing on the jetty, as well as the benefits to using braid overall
Fishing Starts Here!
04:58 Showing a bait ball, what you want to look out for while you're fishing for Bonito
05:24 First catch of the day, baby mackerel, also start of a new tradition for me c:
06:27 Explaining how to lure play doesn't have a set rule, you just gotta try different things and see what works (but I've never lure played before so what do I know right? haha)
07:12 Another huge bait ball with baitfish jumping around, a classic showcase of where to cast for Bonito that are hungry and hunting!
07:23 FIRST BONITO CATCH HYPE!!!
08:27 Miguel lands his first bonito as well!
08:44 Second Bonito catch!
09:02 Miguel catching his second Bonito too!
09:11 Accidentally snagged an anchovy lolol
09:19 Another Bonito catch!
09:37 Victor's first Bonito catch!
10:16 YET another Bonito, this one's the MONSTER of the day! About 2 lb, 15.5 inches!
11:49 Showing Miguel how to catch fish the usual way I do, size 6 hook, torpedo weight, 5-10 feet from the rocks
13:00 Victor interruption my tutorial with yet another Bonito catch!
13:09 Back to the lesson haha
13:43 Catching a Garibaldi, the California State Fish!
14:38 Miguel's mind has been blown, mission accomplished, also explaining what you can generally catch with this method.
15:16 Bonito Boiii
15:37 Doing a Bonito headcount, it's always good to do this once in a while to make sure you don't go over your limit. I knew we weren't too close to the limit but it's better to be safe than sorry yah feel? Protect yourself and protect the fish!
16:16 Some commentary about how much empty casting is involved, not always super clean and pretty like video shows. Also deciding what to do with my share of Bonito
16:51 Eleventh and last Bonito for the day!
17:17 Finishing my thoughts before Bonito boi here interrupted me haha
17:44 Miguel's IMPORTANT message on cleaning up after yourself when you go fishing!
18:01 Outro, concluding thoughts, also mentioning that it is highly recommended to bleed Bonito that you plan to keep right away, I forgot to due to the hype and rush of everything happening haha
I also want to mention that this is the first video where I start my new tradition. I will release the first fish I catch regardless of what it is (unless it's gravely wounded or gut shotted, if it is then I need to make sure it's a legal species I can keep). Just want to return the favor, any day I can go out fishing is a blessing in itself, catching just one fish to beat the skunk is another blessing on top of that, so I want to pass my gratitude to the first fish I catch. You heard it here first hopefully, I'm going to call it #firstfishfreedom
Just wanna do a quick shoutout to beautiful wife Amber as well, she made us breakfast burritos, various sandwiches, and bought some soda for us to take out to enjoy on the jetty when we got hungry, you da best honey ;)
Also wanna give a quick shoutout to some of the other fellow Bonito anglers, they gave me a few quick tips and tricks in between us figuring this out ourselves, so it was much appreciated!
Hope you guys enjoyed, feel free to leave comments, suggestions, and feedback!
Cheers,
Sven

ROCKFISH LIMIT FOR EVERYONE :O! Charter Fishing Monterey Bay, CA
In this video, Amber and I go charter boat fishing for rockfish in Monterey CA! Monterey Bay is a well-known fishing spot, which is true because everyone caught their limit! The limit is 10 per person for rockfish. It is an 8-hour trip, was pretty cold but really fun because there were so many fish! Unfortunately, Amber got really seasick after we got out there, so she had to cut her fishing short :( But there was a bunch of friendly locals who were more than happy to help out! This includes offering snacks and drinks to help ease her seasickness. Really great people out here :) The whole trip was amazing, the weather was beautiful, it basically always feels like a crisp Autumn day when you're out in Monterey :D. It was all hands on deck so I couldn't film every catch but hopefully, this showcases how amazing the fishing was, consider how we caught our max limit!

04:40 Using A Rental Rod, Getting A Double Whammy With Starry Rockfishes :D
05:42 Here I explain very quickly and not in detail as it deserves, about the fish, how deep they are, and why they have something bulging from their mouth when you reel them all the way up.
06:49 Using bait I bought from Monterey Fish Co. in the previous video, I'll start using more of them starting from right here (anchovies, squid, shrimp)
07:01 A tiny rockfish that Amber caught, she thought it was super chonky, it wasn't lolol
07:27 The double fly rig snapped off, using a large heavy anchovy lure I bought years ago, with bait to entice more fish. I start using this one strictly starting here.
08:08 The Vermilion Rockfish Catch! My PB for gamefish right here :) Such a beautiful fish, I didn't weigh him, but he was about 18 -18.5 inches :D
09:37 Using Ol' reliable shrimp c: Wanna see what I can catch, caught a nice Copper Rockfish c:
After Fishing on Boat:
09:55 Heading back as well as some explanation parts
10:35 Here I briefly showcase all the fish we caught. I had to get some ice, layer it, and put the fish in. There are some parts that explain fish limits and such, relatively large section.
13:00 Outro. Also shoutout to J&M Sportfishing for the amazing opportunity to head out and fish with them. Great people! Here's a link to their website, check them out c:

15:23 Dedication part to all the nice friendly locals in Monterey, I couldn't include everything due to privacy concerns on their behalf but here are a few. Shoutout again to The Captain, Crewmember Reed, Magical Chips Fairy, Birthday Boy, Mr. Swivel, Jackie, and Randy! :D You guys were awesome and made the trip amazing for us. Everyone up there was also super sweet!
16:41 Showcase for all the marine life I saw! Includes sea otters, various dolphins, seals or sea lions, and beach chickens haha.
Edit: There's a chance the Yellowtail Rockfish is actually Olive Rockfish, wasn't able to fully confirm but just a heads up!
Hope you guys enjoyed, feel free to leave comments, suggestions, and feedback!

Sven

*What I recommend at least for charter fishing (Okuma Nomad Express and Daiwa BG 4500)
https://amzn.to/3OyWpq4 (Okuma Nomad Express, this rod is pretty beefy, I'd get this guy for charter boats. It's also a travel rod that comes with a case, might be handy if you like to travel and fish. I like to also use this while jetty fishing because it's strong c:)
https://amzn.to/37JqGBU (Daiwa BG 4500 (paired with 40 lb braided), a pretty solid saltwater reel, great choice for charter boat fishing, can handle potentially larger catches out in sea)
https://amzn.to/3Kgo38c (I normally use braided, my default line for general purpose is 20 lb Power Pro Spectra Braided Line, Moss Green. Choose the lb you need for what you're targeting, but you can never go wrong with this brand).
https://amzn.to/38jf8pa (Ugly Stik GX2, 6'6" medium, good beginner and budget-friendly rod and reel combo, great for simple shore-based fishing like pier fishing and jetty fishing)

Fisherman's Wharf :D! Fishing Around Monterey Bay, CA!
n this video, Amber and I drive up to Central California to check out and go fishing in Monterey CA! Monterey Bay is well-known for its fishing, and for good reason. I explain briefly why in the video but basically, Monterey has a submarine canyon that brings a lot of cold, nutrient-filled waters up, which causes phytoplankton explosions!

16:58 Outro and Concluding Thoughts
^Hope this list helps, it's better to watch as complete as possible but this will help you guys reference different parts of the video to go to or after you're done c: I think I'll start putting this in for all my videos consistently starting now, or at least whenever I feel like it haha
There was a lot of fish on Monterey's Fisherman's Wharf! Unfortunately, they were all incredibly dinky bois haha. So many baby sanddabs and one senorita fish. There was even a huge school of anchovies that was around the wharf!
Regardless, it was a lot of fun c: this video is the first video in the Monterey Get Away Playlist, I'll link the other videos after I edit and release them!
Also a quick shoutout to Monterey Fish Co. They are located at the end of the Fisherman's Wharf, in which they sell a variety of seafood products which include lots of fresh locally caught fish! They also have lots of variety in terms of fishing bait too, if you were planning to purchase bait instead of food. Very fresh seafood!
Hope you guys enjoyed, feel free to leave comments, suggestions, and feedback!

Fishing Off A Highway In Ventura County :D!
In this video, I go rock fishing off the highway in Ventura County. I caught a walleye surfperch, and then a really random rock crevice catch. Might have been a sculpin, not sure what kind, maybe cabezon? Anyway, I talk a lot about safety because it is very important to always be safe when you fish in certain areas. you always want to be careful, we are here to fish and have fun, not fish and get hurt. Do your best to always fish safely.
Fish That Were Caught:
Walleye SurfPerch: 06:17
Cabezon (maybe, I think it was): 10:15

(First Video) How To Start Fishing :D Easy, Basic Fishing Setup
In this video, I show you how to start fishing if you're new and looking to pick this up as a hobby. Easy, basic fishing setup to start fishing right away! I only go over some minimal fishing gear, you are free to supplement more gear as needed.
I'll probably make other tutorials as time goes but for now, this video will help you get started.
TLDR: Once set up, you want to fish structure. Fish like to hang out around structure c:
Also, use shrimp as starting bait, shrimp is a great general purpose bait.
Feel free to leave comments or suggestions, I'll be figuring this out as I go.
The total cost of gear is about $30, which I think is a good amount to invest when trying fishing out as $30 for a cheap fishing setup is great.
Cheers,
Sven
