Can we affect salvation through prayer?
Christian apologist Matt Slick, founder and president of the Christian Apologetics & Research, hosts a live radio show every weekday. The show invites callers to ask questions they have about Christianity and many other topics related to it. Recently, a caller asked Matt how to pray for the unsaved if election is true. He explained that election means that God has chosen some people to be saved, and predestination means that he did so before the creation of the world. He said that we cannot know who is elect and who is not, and that some people who are not saved now may become saved later. It's ok to pray for God to elect someone.
God is Good.
James 5:16 NASB95 - Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

Did Jesus commit suicide?
In this video, Matt Slick addresses a common misrepresentation of the sacrifice Jesus made to save His people. Usually, this argument comes from Atheist and those outside of the faith, however, the argument is also made by those within Christianity. It simply isn't the case.

The Now and the Not Yet
Matt Slick was asked to explain the Now and the Not Yet on his live radio show.
The "Now and the Not Yet" is a theological concept that helps us understand the relationship between the atonement of Christ and its application to His people. The atonement is the act of God in which He reconciled sinful humanity to Himself through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. The atonement was accomplished in history, when Jesus died on the cross and rose again from the dead. However, the benefits of the atonement are not fully realized by believers until they are glorified in heaven. Therefore, we live in a tension between the "now" and the "not yet". We are already justified, adopted, sanctified, and sealed by the Holy Spirit, but we are not yet glorified, resurrected, or free from sin and suffering. The "Now and the Not Yet" helps us to appreciate what God has done for us in Christ, and to hope for what He will do for us in the future.

What is meant by “Partakers of the divine nature” in 2 Peter 1:4?
What does the phrase “partakers of the divine nature” mean in 2 Peter 1:4? The verse says, “for by these He has granted to us his precious and magnificent promises so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, and the escape the corruption that is in the world by lust.” Does the phrase mean we become divine, or gods, or obtain supernatural abilities? Does it mean that we participate in divinity somehow? Or does it mean we are experiencing the power of God in our lives?

Are we saved by Works or Faith?
In this video clip from the Matt Slick Live Radio show, Matt is asked to explain James 2. In this text, James is discussing the difference between faith and works, and how we are justified before men versus how we are justified before God. This is referred to as the Horizontal and Vertical Theology of Reconciliation.
James argues that faith without works is dead, and that true faith is demonstrated through works. He also explains that we are justified before men through our works, but we are justified before God through faith in Christ alone. This means that we cannot earn our salvation through good works, but rather it is a gift of grace that we receive through faith in Jesus Christ.
