Oh That Ukraine Crisis
Dr. John Robson comments on key items from the latest Climate Discussion Nexus weekly "Wednesday Wakeup" newsletter (https://climatediscussionnexus.com/ne...), including the ongoing foolishness of claiming the solution to the Ukraine crisis is to give up all fossil fuels not just ones from aggressive dictatorships, or that we should be fixated on the latest IPCC report not some silly war, the Miami Herald's absurd misrepresentation of that report's contents regarding Florida, the idea that young people would rather fight climate change than have money, the claim that older people aren't all in on fighting climate change because they're stupid, a paper saying in case fossil fuels aren't bad they still are, our "Sunburnt lands up north" tour visiting Hay River, the lack of news on increased flooding and a drought that was just a drought.

We Need Pipelines Not Magic Beans
Dr. John Robson comments on key items from the latest Climate Discussion Nexus weekly "Wednesday Wakeup" newsletter (https://climatediscussionnexus.com/ne...), including the demented foolishness of Western nations making themselves dependent on Russian energy, the Canadian government's dilemma over pipelines and the rule of law, a major media outlet boasting of taking money to slant its climate coverage (which it was doing anyway, to be fair), a government study of Arctic warming that boomeranged and our "Sunburnt lands up north" tour visiting Fort Simpson, and no increase in tornadoes outside computers.

Jumping Onto A Collapsing Wagon
Dr. John Robson comments on key items from the latest Climate Discussion Nexus weekly "Wednesday Wakeup" newsletter (https://climatediscussionnexus.com/ne...), including the latest group telling Canadian Conservatives to get jiggy on global warming, an entire house collapsing due to climate breakdown, a story about snow smelling bad, methane panic, and some good sense from an unexpected direction on the scientists who say. And our "Sunburnt lands up north" tour visiting Fort Smith, which tourists usually don't for a reason.

A Flooded Condition
Far too many people have been "conditioned" to react to bad weather by thinking "climate change". But Dr. John Robson explains that, just as Pavlov's dogs learned to salivate at the sound of a metronome (no, not a bell) even though there was no inherent connection between that device and the appearance of food, people have come to associate storms, droughts, wildfires and so on with global warming, CO2 and higher taxes even though there's no inherent connection, in the view of most scientists.

Checking the Fact Checkers
Dr. John Robson comments on key items from the latest Climate Discussion Nexus weekly "Wednesday Wakeup" newsletter (https://climatediscussionnexus.com/ne...), including the factual blunders in Agence France-Presse's effort to fact check us, the supposed end of the winter Olympics as we know them, Britain's Met Office predicting gangs of maniacs roving the UK by 2100 unless Britain rejoins the EU to fight global warming, the end of skiing as we know it, a decline in hurricanes, more alarmist hypocrisy, and our "Sunburnt lands up north" tour visiting Mayo in the Yukon, plus non-existent Medieval warming causing the Little Ice Age and some stubborn glaciers in the Shaksgam valley.

The Fatal Policy Flaw
Overwhelmingly, climate alarmists say we must meet our "Paris targets" to avoid disasters. But Dr. John Robson explains that their own computer models say meeting Paris will make no difference to temperature by 2100. Some activists and politicians may not know it... but the scientists do, and it's wrong of them not to speak up about the fact that the Paris Accord, like Kyoto before it, means massive pain for no gain.

Roundup Roundup
Dr. John Robson comments on key items from the latest Climate Discussion Nexus weekly "Wednesday Wakeup" newsletter (https://climatediscussionnexus.com/ne...), including our getting zapped by an AFP "Fact Check", a bunch of people saying 2021 is the year climate change finally became a reality... again, the end of snow during a brutal North American winter, our advice simply not to look at "Don't Look Up," the idea of rewiring people's brains if you can't persuade them there's a climate crisis, a "1920 or 2020" trip to Tasmania and some glaciers that just won't melt.

There Goes That Dratted Glacier... Again
Dr. John Robson comments on key items from the latest Climate Discussion Nexus weekly "Wednesday Wakeup" newsletter (https://climatediscussionnexus.com/ne...), from the announcement that the Thwaites Glacier is semi-doomed at some urgent distant time maybe to the idea that we are about to set the global thermostat to the ideal temperature if only we knew what it was, climate change causing inflation and turning the Arctic into the Mediterranean, the Canadian government being unable to plant trees or even count them, another instalment of the 1920 or 2020 series from Australia and a vindication of free inquiry on climate.

Ghouls Of Rhetoric
Dr. John Robson comments on key items from the latest Climate Discussion Nexus weekly "Wednesday Wakeup" newsletter (https://climatediscussionnexus.com/ne...), including blaming recent tornadoes in Ohio on climate change despite what the science says, the fact that Australia's weather was harsh in the 19th century too, and an effort to scare us with Ontario government buildings getting "ravaged" by climate change. We also discuss another spectacular failure of peer review in science, brownwashing, cheesy films involving climate and atmospheric blocking, as well as another instalment of the 1920 or 2020 series, this time from Wilson's Promontory, Australia.

Just Chilling With The Climate Here
Dr. John Robson comments on key items from the latest Climate Discussion Nexus weekly "Wednesday Wakeup" newsletter (https://climatediscussionnexus.com/ne...), starting with the fact that satellite data show no net warming for the past seven years, something impossible to reconcile with the simplistic "more CO2 equals more heat" equation. We also look at the tendency of one politician after another to invent a totally original plan for cheaper energy that people use less of, a Japanese town burning adult diapers as theirs, claims that CO2 is bad for plants, feminism as the solution to the climate crisis and more.

The 1970s Cooling Scare Was Real
In the 1970s, journalists, activists and scientists worried that human activity, especially burning fossil fuels, would disrupt the climate, causing bad weather, crop failure and a collapse of civilization due to cooling. Modern alarmists claim it was a fringe view and serious people knew all along that that human activity, especially burning fossil fuels, would disrupt the climate, causing bad weather, crop failure and a collapse of civilization due to warming. But as Dr. John Robson explains in this Climate Discussion Nexus "Crystal Ball" video, it was taken very seriously at the time, only to be dropped down the memory hole along with the Medieval Warm Period and Little Ice Age when it became an inconvenient truth.

Seabird Splitsville Silliness
Dr. John Robson comments on key items from the latest Climate Discussion Nexus weekly "Wednesday Wakeup" newsletter (https://climatediscussionnexus.com/ne...), starting with the trendy but absurd claim that climate change is devastating albatross marriages and moving on to Justin Trudeau getting a stinging reproach from Canada's Environment Commissioner and others for being a gasbag on climate, plus 1920 or 2020 in Robe, Australia, and what the IPCC's AR6 really said about actual rivers and flooding.

Dr. John Robson comments on key items from the latest Climate Discussion Nexus weekly "Wednesday Wakeup" newsletter (https://climatediscussionnexus.com/ne...), starting with the failure of COP26 and moving on to the hypocrisy of politicians and actors on climate, a video of someone skiing down a glacier to prove there are no glaciers any more, yet another attempted "hit" on both penguins and polar bears, a medical misdiagnosis of "climate change", the discovery that big Greenland melts are rare and unimportant, 1920 or 2020 in Northam, Australia, and what the IPCC's AR6 really said about "Low-Probability High Impact" events.

Turning Complexity Into Disaster
Dr. John Robson comments on key items from the latest Climate Discussion Nexus weekly "Wednesday Wakeup" newsletter (https://climatediscussionnexus.com/ne...), starting with an observation by Jordan Peterson about people who will clearly make complex systems worse, like an economy, then the possibility of desperate alarmist politicians finally reconsidering nuclear power, woolly mammoths and climate, the new claim of a 99.9% consensus (and counting) that now includes the Lancet, formerly a medical journal, as well as 1920 or 2020 in Donnybrook, Australia, plus what the IPCC's AR6 really said about rain and CO2Science.org on what 500 years of tree rings on Vancouver Island said about drought.

Dr. John Robson comments on key items from the latest Climate Discussion Nexus weekly "Wednesday Wakeup" newsletter (https://climatediscussionnexus.com/ne...), especially the appointment of radical environmental activist Steven Guilbeault as Canada's new Minister of Environment and Climate Change by our fatuously committed Prime Minister, the increasingly tendency of alarmists to assume rather than demonstrate that the evidence supports them, a dinosaur warning UN delegates not to go extinct, more of our Australian 1920 or 2020 series and more of the "madness of clouds".

The Climate Echo Chamber
Dr. John Robson comments on key items from the latest Climate Discussion Nexus weekly "Wednesday Wakeup" newsletter (https://climatediscussionnexus.com/ne...), from the extraordinary timing of YouTube and others trying further to stifle debate on climate to an Australian court upholding the firing of Peter Ridd to stifle debate to National Geographic lamenting that youth are in a climate panic it helped cause to fiddling past evidence on tornadoes.

The 2000 National Climate Misassessment
In the year 2000, the U.S. government's Global Change Research Program produced the first in a series of National Climate Assessments that made a number of projections based on computer models it insisted were ready for prime time. But as Dr. John Robson explains in this Climate Discussion Nexus "Crystal Ball" video, including an interview with Dr. Pat Michaels, the models were already known to be worse than random when they examined past temperatures and their predictions, predictably, were worse than a coin toss. Which didn't stand in the way of their bureaucratic empire-building.

Dr. John Robson comments on key items from the latest Climate Discussion Nexus weekly "Wednesday Wakeup" newsletter (https://climatediscussionnexus.com/ne...), starting with the alarming recommendation not to park your perfectly safe EV near anything you value, moving on to the supposed hottest summer ever in the US, disgusting claims of climate-driven polar bear inbreeding and cannibalism, more on the futility of woke capitalism, Greenland not melting, the IPCC agreeing with us about the Tropical Troposphere and from CO2Science.org, CO2 perking up Brazilian ginseng.

Dr. John Robson comments on key items from the latest Climate Discussion Nexus weekly "Wednesday Wakeup" newsletter (https://climatediscussionnexus.com/ne...), starting with the claim that climate change is making elephants' ears bigger, moving on to worms eating forests, warming eating a castle, a pointless UN conference likely to collapse too, Joe Biden blithely ordering half solar by 2050, some more very bad math, the last instalment of Ross McKitrick's look at Steven Koonin's Unsettled, what the new UN IPCC report really said about tropical cyclones and, for some variety, CO2Science.org on tomatoes not soybeans.

Bad Weather and Bad Science
Dr. John Robson comments on key items from the latest Climate Discussion Nexus weekly "Wednesday Wakeup" newsletter (https://climatediscussionnexus.com/ne...), starting with the vultures swooping to blame Hurricane Ida on climate change with very shaky factual backing and moving on to their insistence that all bad weather is caused by warming but that no good weather is, which takes us to the evidence that the Little Ice Age saw much worse storms than the Medieval Warm Period. We also discuss the California Coastal Commission's hallucination of fast-rising seas, continue Ross McKitrick's look at Steven Koonin's Unsettled, what the new UN IPCC report really said about streamflow deficit drought, and bring more CO2Science.org soybeans.
