1. CANTON, Miss. (WLBT) - Canton Police are investigating a homicide that occurred around 4 a.m. on Memorial Day.
Chief Otha Brown says Nathan Smith, 50, died after being shot multiple times near the corner of George Washington and Boyd Streets.
The death marks the fifth homicide in the city this year.
At this time, an arrest has not been made.
Anyone with information is asked to call Canton Police at (601) 859-2121.
2.CANTON, Miss. (WLBT) - Canton Police are investigating a domestic situation that turned deadly.
The incident happened on King Ranch Road just after 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
WLBT was at the scene
Canton Police said an 18-year-old male held his family hostage and then shot and killed himself.
Chief Brown said the mother of the 18-year-old called 9-1-1 after he held his mother and siblings against their will inside their home with two guns.
But when officers arrived after getting that disturbing call…
“Officers moved on up to the house taking precautions,” Chief Brown said. “When they got there the door got open and the young man was in the room area with one gunshot wound to his head.”\
“We don’t know a motive right now,” Brown continued. “We just know he was just holding them hostage in the house. We don’t know why.”
Brown says this week alone for the police department and the city has been too much to bear.
Over Memorial Day weekend, a string of shootings occurred in Canton.
“From Memorial Day on up until today, the guys and girls have been running to calls, shots fired calls, even a homicide, and it’s just a lot of stress going on here in the city right now.”
The 18-year-old’s name is not being released.

DO WE REALLY NEED 30 DAYS OF LGBTQ PRIDE?

THEY'RE ALWAYS GONNA HATE YOU, SO NEVER QUIT PUNCHING! (Ep #766)
1- After engaging in a discussion with some individuals on the left about a topic we actually agreed on, I found that they assumed I was evading the issue because they labeled me as a "racist" It became clear that if you don't fully align with the left's views 100% of the time, they will still likely brand you as a racist or Nazi. Surprisingly, even a minor 1% disagreement can provoke the same level of disdain as a 99% disagreement. This is why you should always be 100% authentic to yourself!!
2- One of the deadliest streets in all of Jackson (Ellis Avenue) is undergoing a name change to honor a true Mississippi blues music icon and a living legend in Bobby Rush. The only thing I hate about this is the fact that every time there's a murder or robbery on that street that it's going to have Mr. Rush's name attached to it.

4- Jackson Public schools is getting some new school busses, but they're only for black and brown students according to the head of the EPA
5- The Democrat double standard is alive and well as the liberal media is demanding SCOTUS Samuel Alito recuse himself from all January 6th related cases over his wife flying an upside down American flag from their home after Joe Biden's 2020 election "victory" over Donald J. Trump. Meanwhile they're silent on the judge in Trump's hush money trial being 100% conflicted but refusing to recuse himself.

WEDNESDAY'S W/ SHAUN YURTKURAN - FULL SHOW (Ep #765)
1-Jackson Redevelopment Authority has been given a $1.5 Million dollar grant my the forestry commission and have decided to use to waste on converting a useless greenspace into a useless greenspace with tree's on Farish St. in downtown Jackson, Mississippi. We talk about all the reason why this is a complete grift, a hustle and a waste of money.
2-Our Farish St. greenspace conversation turned into the question of the day: What are some of the biggest projects that got announced but never happened in Central Mississippi (especially Jackson). Someone text and asked about the music festival "Jubilee Jam" returning and we explain why Jackson will never have another major music festival that depends on people who need to be able to let their guard down and enjoy themselves without having to be armed the entire time they're in town or at the festival.
3-MAKE COMEDY OFFENSIVE AGAIN: Remember when you could crack a racially insensitive joke without getting canceled? When the LGBTQ community could laugh at themselves and others without being accused of internalizing homophobia or transphobia? Oh, how we miss those days!
Nowadays, it seems like we've entered an era where only certain groups are allowed to be the butt of the joke. But let's be real, folks – if we can't laugh at ourselves, who can we laugh at? It's time to bring back the freedom to make fun of everyone, regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation.
4-New article from Jerry Mitchell and the New York Time releases some internal "WhatsApp" text messages between Rankin County Sheriff's Dept. Goon Squad members where they talk about some of the terrible things they did, talked about keeping score, taking pics of corpses & more. We decipher what's reality and what's "locker room talk" and if Byran Bailey knew what was or wasn't going on with the Goon Squads activities.

WHY JUBILEE JAM IS NEVER COMING BACK TO JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI
In recent years, Central Mississippi, particularly the Jackson area, has seen several ambitious projects announced with much fanfare, only to be met with disappointment as they never came to fruition. Among the most notable of these unrealized ventures is the "Jubilee Jam," a music festival once celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere and diverse lineup.
The Jubilee Jam, a beloved event that brought joy to many Mississippians, was unfortunately unable to continue due to the growing concerns over safety and security in the area. As the city of Jackson grapples with its reputation for crime and violence, potential attendees have become increasingly wary of attending large-scale events that require them to let their guard down and enjoy themselves without constant vigilance.
This unfortunate reality has led to a significant decline in the number of major music festivals and other large-scale events in the region, as organizers struggle to find a balance between providing a fun and memorable experience for attendees and ensuring their safety. The loss of such events not only affects the local economy but also deprives the community of opportunities to come together and celebrate their shared love of music and culture.
While it is disheartening to see projects like the Jubilee Jam fall by the wayside, it is essential for the community to address the underlying issues of safety and security to foster an environment where such events can once again thrive. Only then can Central Mississippi reclaim its status as a vibrant hub for arts and culture, attracting visitors from near and far to enjoy the rich tapestry of music and entertainment that the region has to offer.

BREAKING - JACKSON'S 49TH HOMICIDE COULD BE TIED TO VIOLENT CARJACKING SUSPECT FROM FRIDAY 05/28/24
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - Jackson Police are investigating a homicide Tuesday evening.
WLBT crews arrived near the M&M Mini Mart at the intersection of Lindsey Drive and Jayne Avenue around 9:55 p.m.
Clay's thoughts: could the victim or suspect be the same guy that shot up and carjacked that white family on the same street (Jayne Ave) as tonight's homicide? I bet there a better than 50% chance it's him.

-A riveting report from Jackson Jambalaya's Kingfish has Councilman Ashby Foote spilling the beans on a peculiar rendezvous at the Capitol Club in downtown Jackson. The clandestine meeting, orchestrated by Hinds County D.A Jody Owens, involved Foote and a duo of investors/developers, all convened to deliberate the enigmatic topic of "how to get business done in Jackson." The councilman found it quite odd for a county D.A to delve into the realm of economic development, especially when the agenda included talks of a potential convention center hotel and parking garage. -Friday in Jackson, Mississippi, a shocking incident unfolded as two black teens, displaying an astonishing level of audacity, were caught on camera brazenly targeting a white family in their driveway. The disturbing footage shows the teens firing at the family before making off with their vehicle. The grandmother and one son were outside the car, while her other son, daughter, and two grandchildren were inside. This brazen act has left the community reeling and sparked a wave of concern about safety and the future of these young individuals.
-I get a text on the Guns-N-Gear text lines from a detractor that say's "black Jackson voters look at anyone I back as a red flag", this begins a rant about exactly what's wrong with Jackson voters and perfectly explains why the city keeps electing complete idiots to run the biggest city in the state. It's because they put their blackness above everything, and nothing else matters as long as the candidate continues the narrative that all of black peoples problems are because of white peoples alleged racism.
-In a twist of irony, a detractor's text to Guns-N-Gear sparks a fiery rant on the pitfalls of Jackson voters' priorities. The message? "Black Jackson voters see anyone I support as a red flag." This candid remark unravels the city's electoral conundrum, shedding light on why Jackson keeps electing "complete idiots" to govern its largest metropolis. The crux of the issue? A relentless allegiance to racial identity, overshadowing all other critical considerations. The result? A perpetual cycle of leaders who perpetuate the narrative of white racism as the root of all black struggles. A bitter pill to swallow, indeed!
-In a surprising twist, a former detractor (Ryan) dials in to share his perspective on Jackson's challenges, sparking a candid dialogue that transcends the city's boundaries to probe racial dynamics in the surrounding counties and within the black community. TWO BLACK MEN SHOOT AT & CARJACK WHITE FAMILY OF SIX IN DRIVEWAY OF THEIR JACKSON, MS. HOME 05/28/24
FULL STORY AT @16WAPTNews Miss. —Two men are wanted by Jackson Police for allegedly stealing a woman's car and firing shots at her and her family Friday.
The whole incident was caught on a Ring camera; two suspects creep up, firing shots at a family as they were saying their goodbyes in the driveway of their West Jackson home.
"I threw my hands up like hey hey hey, and he just pulled me down," said Heather Allen.
Allen and her son were outside of the car, but inside were her oldest son, daughter and two grandchildren.
"They kept hollering, 'Give me the keys, give me the keys.' My daughter was like, 'My babies, my babies are in the car,'" Allen said.
One of the suspects is seen on video pulling Allen's daughter out of the car.
"He jumps in the driver's seat, I'm standing on the outside looking in, and he points a gun at my oldest boy's face," Allen said.
Her son makes it out, and that's when Allen braves it to grab her grandchildren from the backseat. The whole time, one of the suspects was still yelling for the keys. When they couldn't figure out how to take that first car, Allen threw her keys on the ground and you then see the suspects take off in Allen's car that was parked on the lawn.
"I'm not sleeping, my oldest son, his anxiety is through the roof, he's even scared. My daughter, she has shock, but they're in safety. They are in Batesville right now, " Allen said.
JPD was able to track down her car about two blocks away and only 40 minutes after the armed carjacking took place.
"The cop said that the car looks good, but it's in the impound lot; I can't get it until they investigate it for fingerprints," Allen said.
The Ring camera footage has been taken into evidence according to police. The investigation is ongoing, but if you know anything about the suspects or the case you are urged to call JPD or Crime Stoppers

MISSISSIPPI GOV. SIGNS "SAFER ACT" LAW BANNING MEN FROM WOMEN'S RESTROOM & LOCKER ROOMS 05/13/24
Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves signs the #SaferAct into law which will make it a crime for men to use women's restrooms or locker rooms in publicly owned buildings such as schools. Below is Tate's post about signing the bill today!!
The far-left radicals aren’t going to like it… but in Mississippi, we’re going to protect women’s spaces.
That’s why I am pleased to announce that this morning I signed the SAFER Act into law!
It’s mind blowing that this is what Joe Biden’s America has come to. Having to pass common sense policies that protect women’s spaces was unimaginable just a few years ago. But here we are… we have to pass a law to protect women in bathrooms, sororities, locker rooms, dressing rooms, shower rooms, and more.
There’s no doubt that the left will continue to come up with more kooky ideas that harm biological women. And there’s no doubt that Mississippi will continue to push back on them. That’s because we have to — protecting girls and women from the left’s dangerous agenda is just too important to ignore.
Today is a win for girls and women across our state, and I was proud to sign SB2753 into law. You have my word that as long as I’m governor, our state will do everything in its power to keep Mississippi’s daughters safe. Thank you to all of the girls and women across our state who stood up and made your voices heard! We are grateful for your efforts and proud of you!

Houston transgender suspect runs over, fatally stabs man then twerks over dead body
A suspect allegedly seen on video running over a man twice with a car before straddling, kissing and fatally stabbing him multiple times in broad daylight has been charged with murder.
Karon Fisher, 20, is described in court documents obtained by KTRK-TV as a man, but is referred to as a "she" by the Houston Police Department. The homicide took place around 7:50 p.m. May 3, police said in a press release.
Neighbor video obtained by KTRK appears to show an intentional attack on the man who was said to be on his way to pick up his mail
It shows the victim, identified in reports as 64-year-old Steven Anderson, turning around to look at the screeching white car barreling towards him, before it struck him and reversed to hit him a second time. The suspect, seen in all-black, then appears with a knife in hand before flipping Anderson over, straddling him, kissing him and then stabbing him nine times.
The suspect then tries getting into another car unsuccessfully before jumping over the victim's body and taking off.
Officers were called to the scene regarding someone who failed to stop and help another person. Anderson was found by officers with multiple stab wounds already dead.
Witnesses led officers to the suspect at a nearby location. She was detained and questioned by detectives prior to being charged and taken to the Harris County Jail.
Local TV station KPRC said police do not know of a relationship between the suspect and the victim.
Fisher was reportedly on community supervision for evading arrest in 2023, according to KTRK. She was also charged with prostitution in 2021, but that case was dismissed.
Online jail records say Fisher's next court appearance is May 24. Her bond amount has been set at $2.125 million.
