Lawrence Argues Trump Lawyer ‘Did as Good a Job’ as He Could After He Was ‘Admonished’ By Judge
MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell offered some praise for Donald Trump’s defense attorney Todd Blanche after the lawyer faced a scolding from Judge Juan Merchan during closing arguments in the former president’s hush money trial.
O’Donnell joined fellow anchors Katy Tur, Andrea Mitchell, and Chris Jansing on Tuesday after having sat in the courtroom for Blanche’s closing argument, which he said primarily focused on the testimony of ex-Trump attorney Michael Cohen. Cohen alleges hush money payments made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels were made through him and Trump was aware of the agreement. Trump has denied all of this.
“The phrase I think you’re going to find in that transcript more than any other is ‘reasonable doubt.’ This was not an innocence defense. This was not someone getting up and saying, ‘my client’s never done anything wrong in his life.’ This was entirely a reasonable doubt defense,” O’Donnell said.

Trump Spox Miller Derides Robert De Niro as ‘Washed Up’ — Despite His Oscar Nomination This Year
Following the aftermath of Tuesday’s press conference by the Biden-Harris campaign, which featured actor Robert De Niro being heckled by supporters of former President Donald Trump, the Trump camp was moved to issue a response, so they unleashed Trump spokesman Jason Miller.
Miller’s primary attack was on the state of President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign, and he focused heavily on the Politico report that Democrats were having a “freakout” over the current state of the campaign. But after the chaotic press conference with De Niro, who has thrown his full support behind the Biden-Harris campaign, Miller had a new target: an Oscar-winning actor.
His choice of fighting words, however, for De Niro were pretty nonsensical

Legal Analyst on CNN Says Prosecution ‘Fell Way Short’ Of Proving Case Against Trump
Defense attorney Randy Zelin argued that the prosecution in former President Donald Trump’s hush money case “fell way short” of meeting its evidentiary burden ahead of closing arguments on CNN Tuesday morning.
“The burden of proof is an important one to remind everyone: It’s on the prosecution, right? They need to prove beyond reasonable doubt that he commit — that Donald Trump broke the law. And you think after listening to all of this, you think they fell short. How?” the network’s Kate Bolduan asked Zelin.
“They fell way short, because let’s start with reasonable doubt,” replied the legal analyst. “What is reasonable doubt? And it’s not simply a doubt based upon reason. Any time a human being needs to make an important decision in life, if you have enough information, for example, doctor says you need open heart surgery. ‘Doc, go ahead and schedule. I don’t have a reasonable doubt.’ Conversely, if I say ‘I appreciate it, but I need a second opinion, I need more information,’ that is having a reasonable doubt. There is reasonable doubt all over this case.”

Trump Lawyer Totally Unleashes On Michael Cohen in Heated Closing Argument: ‘He Lied to You’
Closing arguments from the defense in Trump porn star hush money trial on Monday focused largely on attacking the credibility of Michael Cohen – Donald Trump’s longtime personal lawyer and fixer whose testimony is central to the case.
Trump is standing trial over his alleged role in falsifying business documents to pay hush money to several figures, including porn star Stormy Daniels, so that damaging stories about him would not make headlines ahead of the 2016 presidential election. Cohen made those payments on Trump’s behalf and has testified that Trump explicitly ordered those stories suppressed to influence the outcome of the election, which is part of the criminal charges against Trump.
“As expected, Michael Cohen, Michael Cohen, Michael Cohen Michael Cohen is seemingly on trial here as well, and they’re wanting the jury to essentially see this entire case based upon Michael Cohen,” MSNBC correspondent Yasmin Vossoughian reported from outside the courthouse.

Robert De Niro Battles With Hecklers at Wild Biden Campaign Presser Attacking Trump Outside Court
President Joe Biden’s campaign showed up to former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial on Tuesday, and they brought some famous friends. But it probably didn’t have the impact they hoped.
Speaking first at the news conference — which, interestingly, was carried live by Fox News and not by CNN and MSNBC — was Biden-Harris campaign communications director Michael Tyler, who provided some trash talk to draw a contrast between Biden and Trump before introducing the headliner, Robert De Niro.
De Niro, who has leaned more into his criticism of Trump and support for Biden — including cutting an ad for the campaign — took to the podium and read a meandering speech while he was heckled by Trump supporters who chanted “Fuck Joe Biden” in the background.

‘Stupid Mistake!’ Karl Torches Biden for Holding Bizarre Niro Press Conference Outside Trump Trial
Fox News contributor Karl Rove blasted the Biden campaign for holding a press conference featuring Robert De Niro outside of Donald Trump’s trial on Tuesday morning, calling it a “big mistake” that should worry President Joe Biden’s supporters.
“Stupid mistake by the Biden campaign! They wanted to get, while all the cameras were there, they wanted to get their moment in the sun. And it was a big mistake,” began Rove.

Vivek Booed For Bringing Up Trump at Libertarian Convention: You All Speak Your Mind, I Respect That
Former Republican presidential primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy was booed more than once at the Libertarian National Convention in Washington, D.C. on Friday, first just for even mentioning Donald Trump, who is speaking at the event on Saturday.
Ramaswamy, who has long claimed to be libertarian if not part of the Libertarian Party, has become even more of a Trump supporter since losing in the Republican primary than he was during it – a primary in which he and presumptive nominee Trump largely avoided criticizing one another.
When speaking to the convention crowd on Friday evening, Ramaswamy brought up Trump as he was asking whether the gathered attendees would rather be happy with getting a very small percent of the vote than having any influence on a Trump administration — and the booing began just at the mention of Trump’s name.

Libertarian delegate Starchild forced out of Trump LNC speech
Libertarian delegate Starchild held a banner saying "NO WANNA-BE DICTATORS!" in front of former President Trump before it appears that Trump supporters grabbed it away while others chanted "kick them out!" as Trump kept speaking at the Libertarian Convention.
Security roughly forced Libertarian Delegate Starchild away from the speech.
Starchild went to the floor multiple times during the struggle, during which time Trump continued speaking without acknowledging the commotion.

‘Not Fear-Mongering!’ CNN’s Kaitlan Collins Hammers Ted Cruz On IVF and Abortion
CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins hammered Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) over his IVF bill and his claim that “media fear-mongering” caused panic among reproductive caregivers in some states.
Cruz introduced a bill this week that purports to “Protect IVF” by withholding Medicaid funds to states that prohibit the procedure.
On Wednesday night’s edition of CNN’s The Source with Kaitlan Collins, Collins duked it out with Cruz in a series of contentious exchanges, including an extended confrontation over the IVF bill and abortion.
