In Canada, a beaver family has built a dam extending 850m – that’s more than twice as long as the Hoover Dam. It’s so big it can be seen from outer space. But that’s not the only reason NASA is interested in this architecturally minded species… Increasing diversity and resilience, not to mention creating wetlands, are just some of the impacts beavers can have on their surroundings. What does this mean for the wider environment? And how can we humans learn from it?

However, things quickly returned to normal in the capital city of Taipei. This was reportedly the strongest earthquake after tremors with magnitude 7.6 struck the island in 1999, killing 2,400 people and destroying 5,000 buildings.

The freight trains keep getting longer and longer. Caught this monster train passing through Byers Canyon. This is with out question the longest train I have ever seen pass through the Moffat Route. Train was so long it busted in half earlier in the day (probably because there was no pusher locomotives). Eight powered locomotives is the maximum allowed for normal operations (dead locomotives do not count). You can also add pusher locomotives in the rear for some steep uphill grades. Lots of ancient coal cars on this train. These cars along with the GP15 locomotive could be heading to the scrap yard.
