Carlsbad police bodycam shows an officer shooting at a suspect after being attacked with a skateboard
The Carlsbad Police Department released body-camera footage Thursday of an incident where an officer shot at a man who was accused of hitting him in the head with a skateboard back in March.
The officer, who was identified only by last name in the new video, shot at suspect Kyle McCord three times, but did not strike him, immediately after being struck in the head. The video released by the department has been edited with text, added graphics pauses and other details.
On March 29 at around 11 p.m., Carlsbad Police Officer McKinney pulled into a parking lot on the 1000 block of Carlsbad Village Drive near the I-5 overpass after his cruiser was struck with a rock.
McKinney requested a supervisor and both were surveying the damage when, a man, identified as Kyle McCord, came up behind McKinney and whacked the officer on the head with a skateboard, according to the San Diego Police Department, who is investigating the incident due to a memorandum of understanding that prevents law enforcement from investigating their own actions.
McCord's attack was captured on the sergeant's body-worn camera. According to the video, McCord used the wheels and the side of the skateboard to strike the officer. After the assault, McCord is seen running away. Officer McKinney drew his service weapon while seeking cover and shot three times as McCord ran west through the parking lot, according to investigators. Neither McCord nor anyone else was struck by gunfire.
The sergeant chased McCord for approximately three blocks where additional officers arrived at the scene and McCord was taken into custody for attempted murder of a police officer and committing a felony while on bond or release, according to the video.
McCord was wearing a mask and gloves at the time of the attack, according to the video.
Officer McKinney was taken to a local hospital and treated for a skull fracture, brain bleed and concussion, according to the video.
San Diego Police Lt. Steve Shebloski told NBC 7 on Monday that investigators don't know why McCord allegedly launched what appeared to be an unprovoked attack on the officer, whether McCord was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or if has some sort of mental illness.

Bodycam shows Mooresville police officer warns town council member about speed
A Mooresville police officer warned a town council member “you can’t be doing 21 over” and “don’t look good for the town” after the officer clocked the elected official going 71 mph in a 50 mph zone.
The interaction happened on April 20 and was captured on a dash camera and body camera.
In the first clip, grainy dash camera video shows the officer is driving southbound on State Road 67, a busy road that cuts through the town of 10,000 people and has a speed limit of 50 mph.
The dash camera video shows the officer flip a U-turn, head north, and then after a minute the video ends at 11:11 am.
The officer’s body camera picks up three minutes later at 11:14 am, with 71 mph visible on the radar in front of him.
The officer pulls into a car wash, steps out and talks to Mooresville town council member Josh Brown, who is in the middle of cleaning out his Mustang convertible.
Officer: You're going a little fast up 67.
Brown: Oh, not me, you know that.
Officer: Yeah, you were going 71!
Brown: I was?
Officer: Yeah. You might want to slow down a little bit.
Brown: Alright.
Officer: Can't be doing 21 over my man.
Brown: My speedometer's probably off.
Officer: Yours?
Brown: It said 60.
Officer: You were doing 71 on the radar.
Brown: (inaudible)
Officer: You can't be doing 21 over. Don't look good for the town!
Town council member Josh Brown talks to a police officer while cleaning his car.
The total interaction lasted less than a minute.
The officer did not get close to Brown, nor did he ask for the council member’s license or registration.
Brown did not receive a written warning.

St. Louis County officer fatally shoots murder suspect after he killed a driver at a gas station
The video, begins with a satellite view of a QuikTrip convenience store and the surrounding area in the 10700 block of West Florissant Avenue. Police said that's where a Ferguson police officer fatally shot Joshua Campbell after Campbell fatally shot the driver of a vehicle he was riding in.
“At approximately 1:33 a.m. (on April 16), two men traveling together in a white Ford Escape arrived at (the) convenience store…. The driver, who is also the victim in this case, entered the store to make a purchase,” Cunningham said.
At about the same time, the officer parked his patrol SUV in front of the store.
Subsequent surveillance video showed both men inside the store making purchases and returning to their vehicles several minutes later. The driver of the Escape, identified as Detarius Haynes, 26, drove toward the gas pumps before stopping.
As the officer was walking to his SUV, he heard gunfire. He placed his purchased items on the hood of his vehicle and ran toward the Escape.
“The officer heard additional gunfire and observed a victim fall from the driver’s seat. An armed suspect climbed out of the vehicle from the driver’s door,” Cunningham said.
Slowed video from the officer's body camera showed him running toward the Escape with his service weapon drawn. Haynes' body, while blurred, is visible on the ground.
The officer gave the suspect “verbal commands,” which he ignored. The officer then fired his gun, striking Campbell. Campbell, 18, ran toward West Florissant Avenue before he collapsed, police said.
About 25 seconds after the incident first started, the officer radioed to dispatchers that shots were fired, and the suspect was down.
Cunningham said a 9mm pistol belonging to Campbell and 10 shell casings were recovered at the scene.

Bodycam shows shooting suspect being fatally shot my Aurora police when he returned to the scene
The Aurora Police Department released a 911 recording and bodycam footage Thursday of the fatal shooting by two of its officers on May 4 of Jose Luis Rodriguez-Balderrama, a suspect in an earlier shooting at an apartment near 1400 Clinton St.
The victim of the original shooting called 911 to report that Rodriguez-Balderrama, a 28-year-old Aurora resident, was sitting on the couch of his apartment with a gun pointed at his own head. Shots can be heard and the victim cries “Ow, he just shot me in the leg” and later reports to the dispatcher that he is hiding in a nearby apartment.
Aurora officers tried to pull over a driver in a red Mustang, the description given for Rodriguez-Balderrama’s car, but called off the chase after a short pursuit. When officers arrive at the scene, the shooting victim shows them his injury and provides more detail on the incident, saying that Rodriquez-Balderrama was a friend.
Police officers are seen waving off neighbors, telling them to return to their homes unless they were witnesses. During the interview with the victim, people nearby are heard shouting “He is here” and “He in the alley.” Officers run to the opening between the row of apartments, and Rodriguez-Balderrama can be seen peering into a window near the victim’s apartment with a gun in hand.
One of the officers shouts “Jose, Jose” and then something else. They open fire, hitting him. Emergency responders arrive to treat Rodriguez-Balderrama, who is still alive. A Glock 22 with 40-caliber ammunition is shown at the scene. The gun was modified to hold more than 20 rounds and fire automatically, according to Aurora police.

Phoenix Police released bodycam when an officer shot, killed a homicide suspect in north Phoenix
The Phoenix Police Department has released body-camera video of when an officer shot and killed a homicide suspect in north Phoenix earlier this month.
Officers first responded to a shooting near 33rd and Northern avenues on May 16. That’s where they found 29-year-old Brandon Russell shot. He was rushed to a nearby hospital and later died from his injuries.
At that scene, police learned that Russell and 23-year-old Devin Montgomery were involved in an argument just before the shooting and Montgomery ran away from the scene, investigators said.
Detectives then tracked him down at an apartment complex near 25th Avenue and Cactus Road around 4:45 p.m.
At the complex, an officer first spotted Montgomery trying to speak with someone there, but was unsuccessful.
That officer, who was in an unmarked police vehicle, reportedly saw two handguns in Montgomery’s hand when he arrived.
The video shows that the suspect appears to fire multiple rounds toward the officer’s patrol vehicle before running away.
The edited video shows that the officer then chases Montgomery as police say he continues firing rounds.
A few moments later, Montgomery is seen falling to the ground as it appears the officer shot him.
No audio of that initial gunfire was captured because the body-worn camera wasn’t fully activated until the officer detained that suspect, investigators said.
Police say that officers then tended medically to Montgomery before he was rushed to a nearby hospital. He later died from his injuries.
Police also showed the two handguns that Montgomery allegedly had when he was detained.

Body Cam Video Shows Fugitive Jumping into Pond to Escape Police
Duson police have apprehended Daylon Richard, a 21-year-old Lafayette resident wanted for a 2021 murder, after a body cam video captured his desperate attempt to flee by jumping into a pond.
Richard, who was also facing charges including attempted second-degree murder and had missed court in Acadia Parish, was located using advanced crime cameras installed throughout Duson.
Duson Police Chief Kip Judice highlighted the effectiveness of this new technology, stating, "Those crime cameras are valuable in that they don't take a day of vacation. They are never sick. They don't show up late for work. They operate 24 hours, seven days a week."
The video footage reveals officers locating Richard at a local gas station.
When he spotted the police, Richard bolted from the scene, crossed the street, stumbled, got back up, and ultimately leaped into a nearby pond to evade capture.
"About halfway across, he realized that he did not have the energy to make it, so he turned back and swam back to the side, still refusing to get out of the pond," explained Chief Judice.
When the police first approached Richard's vehicle, they discovered two other individuals inside, one of whom was his grandmother. Chief Judice noted that Richard's grandmother was unaware of the severity of the situation. "She now knows all the circumstances, but she was unaware that her grandson failed to show up in court and that he was actually wanted," he added.
Richard is currently in custody at the Acadia Parish Jail, awaiting his appearance before a judge.

Wanted driver caught after police chase through Sandy Springs
Dash cam footage caught the scary moments when a traffic stop turned into a police chase in Sandy Springs.
Officials say Brian Atsu fled from two traffic stops - one in Alpharetta and another in Sandy Springs - earlier on Tuesday.
Investigators say they found Atsu had several outstanding warrants out of Forsyth County and Dawson County for narcotics violations.
After tracking Atsu's black BMW X6 to the Morgan Falls Road area, officers found the car at the Harbor Pointe Apartments.
Instead of surrendering to police, officials say Atsu fled and was stopped by spike strips and a PIT maneuver on Dalrymple Road.
Atsu was taken into custody after a short chase on foot and charged with fleeing and attempting to elude, driving with an expired registration, improper lane change, reckless driving, possession of a Schedule II narcotic, and felony obstruction.

SAPD releases bodycam video of Fiesta shooting that left two dead
The San Antonio Police Department released bodycam video Wednesday from a deadly shooting that took place during a Fiesta event April 28.
The shooting took place in the 100 block of Concho Alley during the Fiesta event Fiesta de los Reyes.
While officers were working their post near the stage, SAPD said a suspect, now identified as 20-year-old Albert Cisneros, shot toward another suspect, identified as Mikey Valdez, in the middle of the large crowd.
The bodycam footage then shows Valdez holding a gun as he went toward the direction of Cisneros after the first shots were fired.
Police saw Valdez and began to chase him and Cisneros down Concho Alley.
Shortly after the chase began, two more shots can be heard, and SAPD said they believe those were shots from Valdez shooting Cisneros.
A sergeant and officer then proceeded to shoot Valdez, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cisneros later died after being taken to a hospital.
Two other bystanders reportedly were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, and two others were treated at the scene.

Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man who held a kitchen knife to his throat
The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office released video of a traffic stop when deputies arrested a man who held a kitchen knife to his throat.
According to the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office, Justin Charles Turner, 39, was reported as missing and endangered, and possibly suicidal.
On Tuesday, Deputies located Turner south of Waldo on NW US Highway 301 and conducted a traffic stop.
When Turner exited the vehicle, he held a large kitchen knife to his chest and throat.
After members of the Negotiations Response Team arrived, Turner refused to comply and ignored numerous verbal commands to drop the knife. Deputies deployed a less-than-lethal device because of his ignorance, which caused Turner to drop the knife.
Turner was arrested and received immediate medical attention before being transported to the hospital.
“I want to commend all the deputies on their extraordinary patience and for relyingon their training throughout the roughly 30-minute period,” Sheriff Emery Gainey said. “Each of you did an exemplary job at coordinating and de-escalating the incident to produce a favorable outcome for this event.”
Turner was booked into the Alachua County Jail for resisting without violence and has pending charges for felony domestic battery and felony child abuse from Pinellas County.

Williamson Co Sheriff’s releases dashcam showing motorcycle chase that crashed into a patrol vehicle
The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office released dash cam video of a patrol vehicle being hit by a motorcyclist, leading Herrin police on a chase.
According to the sheriff’s office, they released the video and addressed some public comments regarding the crash. They said they requested Illinois State Police investigate the crash “in the interest of transparency.”
The crash happened around 12:50 a.m. on May 26 when a stationary Williamson County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle was hit by a motorcycle at the intersection of Illinois Route 13 (Deyoung Street) and Carbon Street in Marion. The motorcyclist was involved in a chase with Herrin police at the time, and the patrol vehicle did have its emergency lights on.
According to the sheriff’s office, the patrol vehicle that was hit was one of numerous patrol vehicles stopped at major intersections along the path of the chase to prevent other drivers from crossing into the path of the fleeing motorcycle.
The dashcam video from the lead patrol vehicle in the chase shows the motorcyclist leaving his lane before the intersection, crossing a traffic lane to the north and heading toward the patrol vehicle.
Deputies say the video shows the motorcyclist start to veer right a few seconds before hitting the vehicle, but failed to miss the push number of the vehicle by inches, resulting in the crash.
They say the motorcycle was going nearly 100 miles per hour when it came up to the intersection.

Los Angeles Police Injured, Suspect Arrested After Knife-Related Altercation
An altercation involving a knife-wielding man and Los Angeles police resulted in an officer's injury and the arrest of the suspect, officials said. According to the LAPD Newsroom, the incident occurred in the early hours of April 27 when police responded to an Assault with a Deadly Weapon call on West 105th Street.
Dominique Langlois, 34, was reportedly uncooperative with responding officers, becoming combative and retreating to his bedroom when they tried to engage him. After backup arrived, Langlois then complied and was handcuffed, but later spat at the officers, escalating the situation to a "Categorical Use of Force" by the LAPD's definition.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital, where he was cleared for booking and subsequently transported to the 77th Street Regional Jail. Langlois now faces charges for battery on a police officer, based on the reported events leading up to his arrest. The only reported injury from the clash was an officer's finger abrasion, and no other officers or community members were harmed.

Dayton police dashcam shows pursuit that led up to a deadly crash
A Trotwood woman accused of fleeing from law enforcement, leading to a pursuit and deadly crash on state Route 49 at U.S. 35 is now facing four felony charges.
Charges were filed Tuesday against Melissa Joan Hutchins, 50, for involuntary manslaughter, aggravated vehicular homicide, failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and possession of cocaine, according to Montgomery County Municipal Court - Western Division records.
She is held on $350,000 bail in the Montgomery County Jail.
The crash has led the Dayton Unit NAACP to demand a harsher penalties for drivers who cause deadly crashes and uniform law enforcement policies regarding when to pursue a suspect following the May 20 pursuit and crash at state Route 49 and U.S. 35 that killed motorist Colby Anthony Ross, 35, of Dayton, who was not involved in the chase.
“Our hearts are heavy to see a young man who’s come from a family that has done nothing but good inside this community, a young man who has lost his life at the hands of a reckless, dangerous, insensitive driver, and we are calling upon the full-scale power coming from the prosecutor’s office and the police department, to ensure that this young lady pays the price for killing this man through her reckless behaviors,” said Derrick Foward, president of the local civil rights organization, during a news briefing last week.
A Butler Twp. police officer broadcast around 4:40 p.m. May 20 that a white SUV was wanted for felony failure to comply charges. The SUV’s driver, identified as Hutchins, fled from police during rush hour on Interstate 75 in a construction zone, Streck said last week.
“Approximately three hours later, a plainclothes sheriff’s detective in an unmarked vehicle observed the white SUV on Free Pike Avenue,” he said.
The detective was part of Project Safe Neighborhood Targeted Enforcement that works to reduce violent crime and gun violence and which included aerial support from a law enforcement partner, the sheriff said.
“As the wanted vehicle was stopped at the intersection on Free Pike near state Route 49, the detective was able to deploy a tire deflation device on the vehicle successfully,” Streck said. “The vehicle then drove off and failed to yield for deputies, fleeing southbound on state Route 49. A deputy in a marked patrol car initiated a pursuit while waiting on the confirmation that the helicopter was overhead and locking onto the suspect vehicle.
Streck said that sheriff’s office policy allows pursuits in conjunction with air support because of the success in catching fleeing suspects who believe the pursuit is over and slow or abandon the car and run on foot.
“That was the plan for this incident,” Streck said.
Dash camera video from the deputy in pursuit released last Tuesday shows Hutchins start to pull over a few times, but then take off. It also shows the white SUV lose its right rear tire and spin out on state Route 49, either crashing or almost crashing into another car before continuing its flight south on state Route 49.
“The driver accelerated, running the red light at West Third Street and narrowly missing several stopped vehicles. The vehicle struck a BMV convertible that was headed eastbound on U.S. 35. The BMW was forced into the westbound lane, where it struck a black pickup truck. The driver of the BMW was ejected from the vehicle. Although deputies immediately provided aid and requested fire and medics who were stationed nearby, the driver and sole occupant of the BMW was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries,” Streck said.
The sheriff said Hutchins does not have a license and did not own the SUV she was driving. She also has been charged many times before for driving without a valid license.
The most recent charge was for a hit-and-run crash on June 10, 2023, in Trotwood, during which she did not have a valid license, Montgomery County Municipal Court records show.

Man on drugs and in crisis dies after Houston police used a stun gun on him
A southeast Houston man, who neighbors and law enforcement say was in crisis, died following an altercation with Houston police Sunday morning.
Family have identified the deceased as Egin Tavera. According to Assistant Houston Police Chief Wyatt Martin, Tavera's heart stopped beating about a minute or so after officers handcuffed him.
Martin said paramedics with the Houston Fire Department worked for about twenty minutes to revive Tavera on scene before transporting him to Southeast Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
Martin said officers called paramedics prior to the encounter because they could tell Tavera had ingested narcotics, and they were very concerned for his wellbeing.
Neighbors ABC13 spoke with said Tavera was running around the neighborhood on Sageleaf Drive, naked, screaming and bloody. At least one of them called 911 around 7 a.m.
By the time officers approached Tavera, it was approximately 7:30 a.m., according to Martin. He was inside a neighbor's back sunroom. The resident showed ABC13 how Tavera broke a glass window to gain entry. He appeared to have injured himself in the process.
Martin said he did not know how many officers used a Taser on Tavera or for how long. He said he could only confirm authorities used a Taser on Tavera at least once. Martin indicated the preliminary belief was that narcotics combined with the Taser may have caused his heart to fail.
The department declined to state what substance Tavera was allegedly using, pending autopsy results. Tavera's cause of death will not be known until that autopsy is completed.
"It appears there may have been long term narcotics use involved," Martin said.
Martin also stated Tavera had been wrestling with officers prior to the Taser. The department declined to disclose how many officers were involved in the physical altercation, citing ongoing investigations.

Surveillance video shows Chicago Police officer shooting, killing man's dog
New surveillance video has raised questions over an incident last month involving an off-duty Chicago Police officer who shot and killed a dog in the Bridgeport neighborhood.
On Tuesday, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability released two videos of the shooting and said the CPD should rethink the officer's employment status. Chicago Police issued no citations in the incident.
CPD records show that around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 21, off-duty CPD Officer Carmen Mostek was walking her corgi east in the 500 block of West 29th Street, just west of Normal Avenue.
That was when her neighbor's dog, Aggie—described by Officer Mostek in a 911 call and by police in incident reports as a pit bull, but referred to by the owner as a "mutt" or a "mixed-breed rescue dog"—escaped from the backyard. According to Mostek, Aggie tried to bite the corgi.
At that point, the surveillance video shows Aggie's owner on the ground trying to separate the dogs.
Then, according to the video, Mostek shot the mixed-breed dog at very close range while Aggie was still in her owner's arms.
According to the tactical response report, Officer Mostek said, "I believed my dog would be killed in that in a split moment if I did not intervene."
The owner of the other dog is heard saying to the officer in the video: "You shot my dog! Why?"
The video showed that moments after Mostek fired, the corgi and Mostek ran away.
In a 911 call after the incident, Mostek said: "Hi, I'm an off-duty PO. I'm at 29th and Normal. There was a dog attacking my dog and I had to shoot it, and the neighbor's freaking out."
In a statement released in conjunction with these videos, COPA said, "Based upon the serious nature of the incident, COPA recommends that CPD evaluate the current assignment of the officer and whether administrative duties or relief of powers is warranted during the pendency of this investigation."
The dog's owner filed a lawsuit earlier this month against the City of Chicago, the CPD, and the officer involved in this case. The lawsuit alleges Mostek never tried to help separate the dogs before firing.
"Mostek shot Aggie to death, without justification, at point-blank range while Aggie was in the plaintiff's arms and plaintiff was in the line of fire," the complaint read.
The owner of the dog on Tuesday declined our request for an interview, citing that pending litigation.

Bodycam shows driver nearly hitting officer on the side of the road during an accident investigation
Around 6:30 on May 17 on Highway 29 in the town of Lafayette, a Chippewa County sheriff's deputy and patrol sergeant were on scene of a crash when one was nearly hit by a passing car.
In the video, you can see the car start in the left line, but swerves into the right lane so it doesn't hit the slowing car in front of it. Luckily, no one was hurt.
Chippewa County Sheriff Travis Hakes sent out the video as a cautionary tale. He asks that everyone pay attention and slow down when you see emergency vehicles on the side of the road.

Colorado police officer finds live rattlesnake in car during drug bust
A Colorado police officer found a lot more than common paraphernalia while searching a car for drugs Sunday night.
The officer was checking trailheads at Prospect Park in Wheat Ridge when he spotted a car with drug paraphernalia in plain sight, according to the Wheat Ridge Police Department.
“Around the same time, the car’s owner was dropped off [at] the location by an Uber,” the department said in a statement.
The owner told police a friend borrowed the car and told the owner to pick up the vehicle at that location. The owner also gave the officer consent to search the car.
During the search, the officer found drugs, a gun and a large plastic bin. Body camera footage shows him opening the bin only to find a fully-grown rattlesnake inside.
“Yo, you got a rattlesnake in here? What the (expletive) dude. Are you kidding me? There’s a (expletive) live rattlesnake in this bin,” the officer said in the video.
The car owner appeared just as shocked as the officer.
“Does he have any other thing that might bite me?” the officer said while he continued looking inside the car.
The owner will not face charges at this time. Police are still trying to contact the owner’s friend, as they still have “a lot of questions.”
According to the department, the police booked the drugs and the gun but left the snake. The police recommended the owner take it to the 24-hour vet.

Kent County Deputy faces no charges after running over and killing Riley Doggett after a pursuit
No charges will be filed against a Kent County deputy accused of hitting and killing a teenager with a sheriff's cruiser, according to Kent County Prosecuting Attorney Chris Becker.
"Based on the facts of the circumstances, I did not find a basis to charge the officer," Becker said at a news conference Tuesday.
Riley Doggett, 17, died of his injuries in the hospital on May 9.
The 17-year-old and another teenager were found driving a stolen Land Rover near the Allegan-Ottawa County line on April 8 when they crashed and tried to run away.
Doggett would be sideswiped by a sheriff's cruiser driven by deputy Josiah McMains minutes later, catching his leg under the car and landing hard on his head, according to the Kent County Sheriff's Office.
Two weeks after Doggett's death Tuesday, Becker announced that McMains wouldn't be charged in the case due to insufficient evidence.
Evaluations of multiple charges, including involuntary manslaughter, reckless driving causing death and moving violation causing death, also did not fit the description of the incident, Becker said.
The driver of the stolen car, on the other hand, faces charges of fleeing and eluding causing death and continuing criminal enterprises, or CCE.
The Juvenile could also be charged as an adult because the four minute, 45 second chase ended in Doggett's death, according to Becker.
Tuesday's announcement comes just four days after attorney Ven Johnson, who is representing the Doggett family, claimed that the family has yet to receive a police report surrounding the 17-year-old's death.
Because of this, a civil action lawsuit has not yet been filed.
Johnson spoke with News Channel 3 after Becker's announcement of the charges against the juvenile driver.
"We obviously disagree with prosecutor Becker's conclusion that he can't bring charges, but that's his call," Johnson said.
Becky Wilbert, Doggett's mother, said they brought charges against the wrong person.
"The juvenile driver is not the one who hit my son," she said. "The officer hit my son."

Johnson and the Doggetts had demanded that police release footage of the teenager's death, saying that deputies should not be allowed to "hide it."
"They should not be allowed to hide this from the families, hide this from the public," Johnson said. "To be able to hide this video from the family and from the public for 46 days is shameful and disrespectful." At Tuesday's news conference, Becker said the family had been allowed to see the video.
Moving forward, Doggett's family plans to conduct an independent autopsy, saying they believe the teenager's death was due to excessive and deadly force.
"That's not a sideswipe, especially when you have the front passenger's side wheel running up the back of your left leg, taking your shoe off, and leaving a tire print on your left calf," Johnson said.
Wilbert is worried about the possible precedent this situation may set.
"These officers are getting out of control, and without charges being pressed, that more officers will think that they can do the same thing and get away with it, and that's not okay," she said.
Johnson said he plans to write a letter to Attorney General Dana Nessel, asking her to review the evidence and bring criminal charges against McMains.

Holly Hill police fatally shoots man with a knife who charged at police after threatening a woman
Body-camera video shows a man with schizophrenia was shot and killed by Holly Hill police after he charged at an officer with a knife, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office released the video on Wednesday, less than 24 hours after the fatal shooting on Ridgewood Avenue. The video can be seen in the media player above. A word of warning, the video contains graphic content, and viewer discretion is advised. The sheriff’s office is supplying operational support to the Holly Hill department after multiple officers and the chief resigned amid allegations of inappropriate conduct.
The sheriff said 911 dispatchers received a call from the man who was shot and killed, as well as his mother. In the 911 call from the man, he can be heard saying that he is hearing voices that are telling him to kill people. The man can be heard saying that he has a steak knife.
Around the same time, the man’s mother calls to warn officers that her son has schizophrenia and is known to be violent.
“He doesn’t want me to come over cuz he tried to kill me before,” the woman said to dispatchers in the recording.
The dispatcher speaking with the man can be heard encouraging him to stay inside and put away the knife.
“She’s right there outside,” the man can be heard saying in the recording.
“Who’s outside?” the dispatcher responds.
“Nicole,” the man said in the recording. “I’m going to kill her.”
A moment later, screams can be heard coming through the phone. It is not clear exactly what happened.
The video then cuts to body camera footage that shows an officer arriving on the scene. The man is seen charging the officer, who has his gun drawn.
The officer orders the man repeatedly to drop his knife, but he continues charging the officer, who is backing up.
The officer eventually opens fire and the man can be seen dropping to the ground, but he gets back up again seconds later and resumes charging the officer.
The officer is then seen firing several more times. The video shows the man fall to his knees, where he remains until more officers arrive and they begin rendering aid.
The man ultimately died at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office.

Video shows armed man killed by Pasadena Police during fight with K9 after pursuit
A San Fernando man who led Pasadena Police on a foot pursuit in April that ended in a scuffle with a police K9 was fatally shot after attempting to reach for a handgun, officials said Tuesday as they released body-worn camera footage of the shooting.
Ricardo Guade Andrade, 36, was approached by police on the evening of April 13 while parked in a white pickup truck on Hudson Avenue, near Del Mar Boulevard, police said. His truck was parked in the wrong direction on a one-way street when officers attempted to conduct a check on the vehicle.
Andrade turned the engine on and attempted to flee after officers told him to step out of the truck.
One officer stood in front of Andrade’s path, telling his dispatch that he has “got one at gunpoint. He’s trying to run me over,” according to the body-worn footage.
Andrade ran a red light during the pursuit before crashing the truck into a parked vehicle in the driveway of a home along the 800 block of Arden Road. A K9 officer was the first to arrive and sent the dog towards the truck.
“Stop, or you’re going to get bit,” the officer said before shouting “gun” twice.
Andrade fled from the pickup truck and into the neighborhood, first breaking into a home about a block away from the crash by smashing the glass on the front door. The victims hid inside a closet and told dispatch that they could hear Andrade demanding the key to their car.
The victims were unharmed, and Andrade eventually left.
He broke into a second home through the back door in the 700 block of Oak Knoll Circle, scaring the residents, who fled out the front door.
One woman running from the home shouted to the officers for help, saying “he’s got a gun,” and that he was inside their home, according to the footage.
A police helicopter spotted Andrade in the backyard of the home using a night vision camera while officers were planning to enter the residence.
The K9 dog was the first to be sent into the backyard, police helicopter footage shows. The man was quickly subdued by the K9, clamping onto his arms and legs.
At least two officers arrived shortly after the K9 had taken down Andrade, and began ordering him to show them his hands. Andrade, who was still struggling with the dog, attempted to reach for what authorities say was a handgun, though it is not clear in the footage. One officer shouts “gun,” and “watch my dog,” before firing around eight shots at the suspect.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and a handgun was found near the body, police said. No officers were injured.
It was not determined if his weapon was ever fired, and the shooting was being investigated by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office alongside detectives with the police department’s Robbery and Homicide Unit.
