Footage has emerged of a man in Dnepr, Ukraine reportedly being helped to escape from a gang of military recruiters. In the video, which appeared on Telegram, a group of women can be seen crowding round a van, and appear to help a man climb through the window. It’s not clear who the other occupants of the van are, but reports suggest they were draft officers, and that the crowd of women blocked the van while the man made his escape – even giving him time to retrieve his bike from the trunk. An American journalist made headlines herself after swallowing a fly during a live news broadcast. Vansessa Welch was reading out a story about domestic violence when a fly invaded the studio and annexed her eyelashes. Demonstrators took to the streets of the French capital on Monday to denounce an Israeli strike on a Rafah refugee camp which killed at least 45 people. The crowds could be seen waving Palestinian flags and banners, chanting and lighting flares. Some carried ‘Wanted’ posters of Macron, Biden and Olaf Scholtz. Local media estimate around 10,000 protesters marched through Paris, while similar demonstrations took place in Barcelona and Amsterdam. Clashes ultimately erupted between protesters and riot police, who used stun grenades and tear gas on the crowds as protesters fled to safety.
