Since 2016, the flat-earther known as Mike Hughes has tried four times to fly in a rocket he made himself. Rumors circulated on the internet that he was risking his own life to prove his theory without scientific basis. Until last February 22nd, the outcome was truly tragic and the adventurer ended up dying in one of his endeavors.

On the last journey that ended in his death, Hughes was flying for the Science Channel's "Homemade Astronauts" program. The objective was to reach a height of 1.5 kilometers, flying over the Barstow region, in California.
