Dr. Richard Urso earned his undergraduate degree in political science from Villanova University in Pennsylvania and his medical degree from McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Urso, who has been in practice since 1988, is board certified in ophthalmology. His primary clinical interests are oculoplastics, reconstructive surgery and refractive surgery. His patients rate him highly on the thoroughness of his exams, his ability to answer their questions, the amount of time he spends with patients, his friendliness and his caring attitude.

He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, North American Academy of Cosmetic and Restorative Surgery, Harris County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association and Texas Ophthalmic Association. He has authored numerous articles and abstracts on a variety of ophthalmology-related topics.
