Have you noticed that the people at the top seem to be completely disconnected with reality? At some point the government stopped working for the people, and started trying to rule the people. The changes the elitists are trying to push on society will make every day life for the populace almost impossible. I don't think they fully realize it, but pushing the changes they are will probably lead to a sort of peasant revolt (by peasant I mean us). Just look through history...
