A San Francisco Safeway, which was open 24/7, cuts hours to shut at 9 p.m. hoping to end a shoplifting epidemic described as 'off the charts'. Meanwhile in St. Louis the Mayor's news conference gets punctuated by gunfire, which she describes as the "lullaby" with which she puts her child to sleep each night.
