20210802 Why Representative Republic? - The Daily Summation

The purpose for a representative republic IS NOT to have the "best and brightest in charge of the country." Instead, the intent is to make it so it's relatively EASY to govern.

This works on a state level (and lower) as well.

The point of a republic, is to have a society in which overarching laws set a baseline for how one ought to act, and allow one to have the same expectations of others (which is why the "equal protection clause" is so important).

The point of representation, is to make it so that, within the confines of the republic, one is adequately represented by those elected to govern.

The point here, is that neither of these requires the "best and brightest" govern.

Don't get me wrong, I want a wise person in that position every bit as much as someone like Dinesh D'Souza does. That said, I ALSO want a GOOD person, a DILIGENT person, and a person willing to listen to the people and act INSIDE THE LAW, to do what they want.

This is why I came to the subject for today's edition of The Daily Summation from Kurt's Religion and Politics.

When I'm able to complete the companion article on the Kurt's Religion and Politics blog, I'll post a link to it here.
