Rumble — In a 50-50 procedural vote along party lines, Senate Republicans blocked House Resolution 1 - also known as the For the People Act - which Democrats argued would have strengthened voting rights and access across the US. Vice President Kamala Harris presided over the vote, which would have opened debate on the legislation before an actual vote. To pass the bill into debate, 60 votes were needed.
