Faulty Philosophy
Faulty Philosophy
She was fragile
Beauty personified
I was taken
Shaken so much I cried
She said sweetheart
I love to hold you near
I said baby
Where do we go from here?
We were just friends
And we were much too free
With affections
Hurting her, hurting me
When we parted
I kept a part of her
To remind me
About the way we were.
I was happy
To have her by my side
And her presence
Filled my heart full of pride
Of her beauty
That all the world could see
And their envy
That she loved only me.
Was it true love?
Or was it merely lust
For my feelings
I really could not trust
She said marriage
She said it was a must
Her attraction
Well, it was all a bust.
That's the world's way
We want to be so free
But we're captive
Faulty philosophy
Holds us hostage
And there is no release
Once you enter
You'll find it hard to leave.
