The Second Amendment to the US Constitution reads:

A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

It's been called "the amendment that protects all the others." A fierce, decades-long debate about its meaning shows no signs of abating. Some would like to repeal it, or re-interpret it to eliminate the individual freedom it guarantees. As a result, the Supreme Court is regularly asked to weigh in, and its pronouncements have profound impact on our exercise of this right.

Hear 2nd Amendment expert Charles C.W. Cooke share his insights on the history, current status, and future of this much-discussed amendment.

Charles is editor of National Review Online, co-host of the podcast Mad Dogs and Englishmen, author of The Conservatarian Manifesto, and a very recent US citizen.
