How Wildfire Smoke Can Increase Spread, Severity Of COVID-19 Unlisted Video
CNN reports doctors are warning that bad air quality from wildfire smoke could make people more vulnerable to coronavirus infections.
Dr. Brad Spellberg says multiple studies around the world have shown that the higher the levels of pollution are, the worse COVID-19's spread and severity is.
Multiple studies have shown a correlation between higher levels of pollution in the air and greater spread and severity of Covid-19 cases. Dr. Brad Spellberg, Chief Medical Officer Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center.
Dr. Spellberg added that some studies have also shown that exposure of lung tissue to pollution may increase susceptibility to viral infections.
That's because whenever the lining of the lung or the airways becomes inflamed or damaged, it increases the potential for infection.
Also, smoke-filled air is likely to drive some coronavirus-positive people indoors, which could increase the spread of the novel coronavirus.
