Growing up on the South Side of Chicago has its obstacles, as Author Gabriel Bump knows all too well. In his comically-dark coming of age novel Everywhere You Don't Belong, he explores what it means to be a young black man growing up in America through the story of Claude McKay Love. Gabriel joins us to talk about his first book, black masculinity, and what he hopes others can learn about race in America.
