Food demand fell because of the coronavirus pandemic and now millions of pounds of food are being wasted on U.S. farms. According to Business Insider, farmers don’t have a way to put it on the market for profit. The waste comes because buyers like restaurants, hotels, schools and sports venues are shut down. While the federal government set aside $3 billion for the U.S. Department of Agriculture to buy it and redistribute it… The USDA has failed to launch the program fast enough and now the food is being wasted.
