Chipotle Business Thrives Amid Coronavirus Unlisted Video
While the restaurant industry confronts declining sales and huge layoffs, mobile apps and digital are showing promising signs of growth.
According to Business Insider, Chipotle's digital sales grew more than 102% in March, as customers ordered burritos for delivery or pick-up, while sheltering-in-place.
Chipotle made big investments in their digital arm in 2019, and now they're hoping that it will pay off after the coronavirus pandemic disappears.
CEO Brian Niccol said "Our rewards database just went from 8 million to 12 million...And that's going to be a very valuable asset."
He also anticipates that dining rooms will reopen "in the next month or two."
But in the meantime, Chipotle's is thriving through their delivery and pick-up sales, from online and app orders.
