More than 4,000 new cases of influenza were confirmed across the country this week.
The CDC estimates that so far this season there have been at least 2.6 million cases of the flu.
More than 23,000 people have been hospitalized and 1,300 have lost their lives to the illness.
At least ten children are among those who have died, as numbers of laboratory-confirmed cases continue to rise.
