According to CNN, on Saturday U.S. Vice President Mike Pence made an unannounced trip to Iraq.
Pence arrived in Iraq amid violent anti-government protests.
CNN explains, "On Friday, Iraqi security forces dispersed protesters on a bridge in central Baghdad, killing three people and wounding 26 others, security forces and activists."
There are several reasons why protests have erupted in Baghdad and in southern Shiite provinces.
