Coast Guard boats swept the Ohio River Tuesday afternoon in search of a BB Riverboats employee who fell into the water hours earlier. Newport Fire Chief Bill Darin described the effort as a recovery, not a rescue. According to BB Riverboats, a local company that offers sightseeing and dinner cruises on the Ohio, the worker was first reported missing around 11:55 a.m. The Coast Guard estimated he had fallen into the river more than an hour before that.
