The U.S. House of Representatives has passed legislation to raise the federal minimum wage.
The amount varies by state but it will raise to $15 an hour by October 2025, says Reuters.
Seattle, San Francisco, New York state, California, Arkansas and Missouri have already raised their minimum wage.
Amazon.com and Costco start at $15 an hour and Target promises the same by the end of 2020.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi celebrated by saying about 33 million people in the country are getting a raise.
