Rumble Simon Berrow of the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group was on hand at Lahinch in Co Clare on July 11 after being alerted to the presence of a dolphin in distress. Video by Berrow shows the attempted rescue of the animal, which, according to the group, was not successful. According to the Irish Examiner, a group of surfers also tried to help refloat the stranded dolphin. Speaking to the Examiner, Berrow said: “The surfers did their best and we thank them for trying but sometimes a dolphin will live strand themselves. They did the right thing by reporting it. Sometimes we can help but if a dolphin is either too ill, weak or injured and they live strand, there’s very little you can do." Credit: Simon Berrow/Irish Whale and Dolphin Group via Storyful
