Bill Gates said Microsoft’s early culture was made up of “self-selected,” mostly male, employees. According to Business Insider, he said they sometimes “went too far” and were “tough on each other.” During the interview, Gate was asked about the efficacy of his “demanding” managerial style. He said: "It was very intense, we counted on each other to work very long hours.” Yet he also said he “always wanted to set the best example at that.”
