Rain came storming down on parts of Washington, D.C., breaking a daily record in just an hour. It fell 3.3. Inches at Reagan National Airport, breaking the previous record of 2.2. Inches in 1958. According to Reuters, it forced 15-swift-water rescues from stranded cars and caused a leak in the White House. The National Weather Service said: “This is a life-threatening situation. Seek higher ground now.” Further northwest, Arlington, Virginia, faced 5 inches of rain between 9 to 10 a.m.
