Sen. Bernie Sanders proposed a plan to eliminate $1.6 trillion in student loan debt. According to Business Insider, he also wants to make all of public higher education tuition-free. The plan proposes student loan elimination through a new tax on Wall Street transactions. The Sanders campaign said the tax would generate $2 trillion over ten years and be able to cover the cost.
