Trade Expansion Act
President Donald Trump ignited trade wars with multiple countries over the past year. Some senators don’t like what’s happening and are seeking legislation that will limit presidential trade authority. Sens. Pat Toomey and Rob Portman presented bills that will reform Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act. According to Business Insider, the bill lets the president unilaterally impose tariffs for national security reasons. Portman said “misusing” trade hurt exports, manufacturers and consumers.
