Rumble Lebanese officials announced the release of United States resident and Lebanese citizen Nizar Zakka from Iran on June 11. Zakka was detained on charges of espionage, BBC Persian reported. The Washington DC resident was sentenced in 2016 to 10 years in prison and fined $4.2 million, according to Reuters. On Monday, a US State Department spokeswoman said they “certainly hope that these reports are accurate that he has been released.” This footage was released by the Lebanese Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and shows Zakka denying the charges and thanking Lebanese officials for their support.
