Rumble Police fired pepper spray and teargas at protesters outside Hong Kong’s Legislative Council buildings on Wednesday, June 12, after the protests were declared “a riot” by the chief of police. Wednesday’s events followed a huge protest on the weekend against an extradition bill, which would allow for the transfer of criminal suspects to mainland China. The Sunday rally ended with clashes between protesters and police. According to the Hong Kong Free Press, the meeting to discuss the proposed legislation at government buildings on Wednesday was postponed. Credit: Antony Dapiran via Storyful
