According to Digital Trends, the future of the internet may lie in premium web-browsing services. Google’s recent decision to block ad-blockers in Chrome was seen as a definite indicator of an overall push for “pay-for-play” web browsing. The move to eliminate ad-blockers in Chrome is an obvious attempt to encourage free Chrome users to upgrade to the highest level of G Suite premium services. Mozilla could be joining the premium browsing trend too but using a different strategy.
