Rumble / Time LapsesA photographer in South Arm, Tasmania, shot a timelapse as the spectacular Aurora Australis, or southern lights, coloured the night sky on Tuesday. May 14. The southern lights would be visible for several days from Tasmania and southern Victoria, according to reports. Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) scientist Zahra Bouya told Seven News eruptions on the sun’s surface had created the conditions for the phenomenon, which was rare at this stage of the solar cycle. BoM tweeted on Thursday that Aurora Australis would have been hard to spot that morning due to cloud cover, but advised would-be viewers that they would have a better chance Thursday night and Friday morning due to clearer skies.
