Rumble Peru’s former president Alan Garcia shot himself in the head on Wednesday, taking his own life.
According to Reuters, it was to avoid being arrested in connection with alleged bribes from Brazilian builder Odebrecht.
The 69-year-old was a towering and charismatic figure who played a central role in Peruvian politics for more than thirty years.
He died in a hospital after shooting himself at his house in Lima when police arrived with a warrant for his arrest.
