Target has decided to play ball by upping their worker's minimum wage from $12 an hour to $13 an hour—starting in June.
According to Reuters, this business move is expected to put new pressure on its retail rival, Walmart, to do the same. Walmart currently pays workers $11 per hour.
Reuters says "Minneapolis-based Target, the eight largest U.S. retailer by sales and fifth largest by employee count, runs 1,845 stores and employs more than 300,000 workers in the United States.
