Prosecutors Drop Charges Against Jussie Smollett
The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office chose to drop the charges after reviewing the facts and circumstances of Smollett's bizarre case.
The actor claimed he was attacked by two racist and homophobic men, leading to a police investigation for a hate crime.
But the Chicago Police Department charged Smollett for filing a false police report, followed up by counts of lying to police and disorderly conduct.
Prosecutors reviewing Smollett's case said the actor agreed to forfeit his bond to Chicago, but was exonerated for his volunteer service in the community.
