According to UPI, new guidelines no longer recommend taking a daily low dose of aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease.
Dr. Roger Blumenthal, a cardiologist with Johns Hopkins Medicine, said clinicians should be selective in prescribing aspirin for people without known cardiovascular disease.
Instead, Dr. Blumenthal said aspirin should be prescribed to patients with a high risk of cardiovascular disease with a low risk of bleeding.
