Youth demonstrators in Berlin, Germany, took to the streets on Friday, March 15, to join a worldwide “strike” demanding stronger policies to address climate change. Video posted to Twitter shows protesters packing the streets near the city center, carrying signs, and chanting. Thousands were expected to arrive for the climate action protest, according to media reports. The “school strike” movement for climate change action has spread since August of 2018, when Greta Thunberg, a Swedish 16-year-old, skipped school and began protesting outside the Swedish parliament. On March 15, protests began in New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific, before spreading to Asia and Europe later in the day. Credit: Hans-Christian Höpcke via Storyful
