Like thousands of their peers worldwide, student demonstrators gathered in Cardiff on Friday, March 15, as part of a protest against inaction on climate change. Video posted to Twitter shows the students singing their national anthem outside the Welsh National Assembly, as well as chanting and waving signs to demand “climate justice.” The “school strike” movement for climate change action has spread since August of 2018, when Greta Thunberg, a Swedish 16-year-old, skipped school and began protesting outside the Swedish parliament. On March 15, protests began in New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific, before spreading to Asia and Europe later in the day. Credit: Newport Youth Council via Storyful
