Politico looked into an attack on presidential candidate Kamala Harris and the spread of false information. They followed a meme comparing her to Rachel Dolezal, a white woman who made false claims about being black. The meme began on Reddit but soon traveled to Pinterest, Twitter and other “alternative” platforms. By the time Harris announced her candidacy, the meme was shared more than 100 times in all kinds of platforms.
