Reuters reports a Spanish foreign ministry source said Wednesday the European Union will not agree to renegotiate a Brexit deal. He said, however, that there might be some maneuvering for a statement on the Irish backstop. Spanish Foreign Ministry Josep Borrell said, “There could be some margin for some kind of political agreement around the Irish backstop, but we do not know how it can materialize, whether in a letter, a declaration or an asterisk. The Brexit Treaty is not going to be reopened.
