Heavy rain caused flooding along a section of train line serving the Mount Isa Mines, in Queensland, over the course of several days, from January 30 to February 5. Time-lapse footage issued by Queensland Rail shows the cumulative impact of heavy rainfall, which submerged a section of the railway line. A freight train with 80 wagons containing zinc, lead, and copper anode was also impacted by the weather, leading to chemicals being spilled into floodwaters, Queensland Rail’s CEO Nick Easy said.
