County Attorney Clarifies There Are No 'Roving Somali Gangs Terrorizing People'

Posted • December 3, 2025: I hadn't heard about roving gangs of Somalis terrorizing people in Minneapolis. I've heard some stories about child rape, and the Islamic center writing a letter defending the rapist's character and standing in the Somali community. I've heard of $1 billion dollars of fraud from the Somali community under Gov. Tim Walz's nose, either from the Feeding Our Future program or a "disproportionately high diagnosis rate" of autism among Somali children, so the families can collect benefits. Let's face it, the Somalis aren't looking good right now. Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty shot a video to refute all of the rumors spread by President Trump and the like that there are roving gangs of Somalis terrorizing Minneapolis. —— Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty @HennepinAtty: “Let us be very clear: there are no "roving Somali gangs terrorizing people." “Minnesota man” Abdimahat Bille Mohamed raped a 15-year-old girl at gunpoint and raped another woman he met on snapchat. He struck a plea deal and DID NOT SERVE JAIL TIME. He just raped another woman. Who could’ve possibly seen this coming?! WE ARE SO SICK OF THIS. —— There are, however, a large number of Somalians that have committed fraud and stolen billions of dollars from the taxpayers of Minnesota. Anas Mursal Mohamed, 18, was charged in the UMN Rapson Hall shots fired incident last month after initially being released.

He was subsequently picked up on a warrant and charged with riot while armed, threats of violence, reckless discharge weapon, and two counts of carrying without a permit (police found a gun outside Rapson Hall and Mohamed was found with another gun the next day when he was arrested). He bailed out of custody on $50,000. Here's where it gets interesting. Mohamed's address is listed as a Minneapolis Public Housing single family home in south Minneapolis in Jason Chavez's Minneapolis Ward 9. Does he get kicked out?? Don't we have some actual people in this city who need housing who aren't shooting up the UMN campus?? The criminal complaint states that Mohamed was partially identified by his 2025 Honda Accord with blackout plates that he was driving and was registered to him. Charges say police pulled over a vehicle in #Dinkytown near #UMN on Monday that was going the wrong way on a one-way. The five occupants were wearing masks and hoodies. One loaded gun was recovered from a juvenile in the vehicle.

Another loaded gun with an extended magazine was recovered from the pajama pants of another juvenile in the vehicle. When Mohamed was removed from the vehicle, he tried to throw the Glock with a switch from his waistband. A fourth gun was recovered from inside the vehicle, which has been sent for forensic testing. No word on whether the juveniles were or are in custody. Mohamed made his first court appearance today and requested an interpreter and applied for a public defender. He remains in custody on $100,000 bail at this time, but he's been given the option of ZERO bail on conditional release.
