A light display celebrating the Detroit Red Wings’ 100th year was up last month at MotorCity Casino in Detroit, with patterns in the team’s colors of red and white alternating with messages reading “LETS GO REDWINGS!!” and “100 YEARS”

The Original Six team began as the Detroit Cougars in 1926, and was renamed as the Detroit Falcons in 1930 before taking on the Detroit Red Wings name in 1932

The Red Wings have won the most Stanley Cup championships of any U.S.-based NHL franchise, with 11 Stanley Cup championships thus far throughout the franchise’s history, spanning from their first in 1936 to their most recent in 2008
