Rumble / Strange Weather - Heavy snowfall and howling winds combined to cause whiteout conditions as snow squalls swept through western Newfoundland on Thursday, January 31. This video shows a squall in Stephenville. Canada’s national weather service released an advisory in advance of the squall, warning visibility would be “near zero” during the intense storms. Conditions are expected to improve Friday “as squalls taper off to flurries,” the weather service said. This squalls were triggered by a blast of arctic air that descended from the northwest this week, causing extreme weather and frigid conditions across Canada and the United States.
