Posted • November 20, 2025: One of Charlotte's Best Places to Get a Taco Has Closed Because of the CBP Operation — https://media.townhall.com/cdn/hodl/tw/images/up/2023/05/00001-3-1-1052x615.jpg —— I wrote about Joe Bruno before. He's a reporter at a Charlotte, North Carolina, network affiliate and passed along that Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools estimated that approximately 20,935 students were absent from school on Monday due to ICE's presence in the city. In another post I published, an elementary school teacher in Charlotte said just four of his 16 homeroom students showed up on Monday. Bruno was back with another report on Operation: Charlotte's Web. One of the best places to get a taco in Charlotte has decided to close due to the CBP operation. —— Joe Bruno @JoeBrunoWSOC9: “Tacos El Nevado, frequently voted as one of Charlotte’s best places to get a taco, has decided to close due to the CBP operation” https://x.com/JoeBrunoWSOC9/status/1991197438904873077 —— I wonder why? They could be selling tacos to hungry ICE agents.

Why would this restaurant close due to a CBP operation? Funny I know several restaurants in the vicinity of ICE activity and not a single one closed. Hmmmm. https://video.twimg.com/tweet_video/G6J-z-QWMAAlErm.mp4 —— So if I make good tacos I get to break the law? Interesting. Right over the target, so to speak. We can bring in Mexicans to make tacos on visas if necessary, though I have made some banger tacos myself. Very simple food. But definitely not worth harboring illegals over. Now why would they close up due to CBP operations? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 I'll take "business was bad already but blame the CBP for it" for $5000, Alex. —— Tacos, the notoriously difficult-to-make meal. Matt Van Swol is our unofficial correspondent from North Carolina. —— Matt Van Swol @mattvanswol: “🚨 Hundreds of construction sites are sitting completely empty in Charlotte NC today. HUNDREDS of them.” —— Wow. What was Charlotte hiding and how many people knew about this prior to the ICE action?

The project owners were probably paying for prevailing wages, or close to it, while their contractor was paying half that amount to illegal workers under the table. In this case, empty job sites are probably signs of progress. Good. Now hire Americans to fill these jobs. Do any Americans live in North Carolina? I thought I remembered a movie a long time ago called A Day Without Immigrants, but when I looked it up, I saw that there was a protest on February 3, 2025, called A Day Without Immigrants. It obviously didn't affect many people, because this is the first I've heard of it. I could go for a good taco right about now, but I'd prefer it to be from a restaurant that hires Mexican Americans. I never realized Charlotte was such a hotbed of illegal immigration. ICE apparently knew.
