Retro Game Players 07 - The Battle Of Olympus

I still remember first seeing this game on tv during a commercial and it really got me into it. So, one day I had enough money to buy it, and I gave it ago. It was a little tough at first and I was never able to beat the game as a kid. Now I'm an adult and I managed to beat the game during my adulthood.

This is a Greek mythology type of game where you explore cities, caves, temples, and mountains to battle enemies and collect items. It's also a side-scroller and a kind of game where you back and forth doing stuff. What is cool about this game is you get to name your character and the girl you are rescuing which is always been a favorite feature of mine.

The run down is that your girlfriend has been kidnapped by Hades, and he turned her to stone. Your goal is to find 3 hearts and find Hades to defeat him and turn your girlfriend back to normal. You collect many power-ups and weapons along the way. You also get special items that can help you on your quest and fight dangerous enemies. The worst part is that some items you have to buy with olives from Greek gods. If you don't have enough olives, then you're shit out of luck.

You gain olives by defeating enemies and you better save those fuckers up because if you die you lose half your hard-earned olives. And that is what you majority do in this game is die. You will die a lot in this game. I'm fighting this Hydra monster and I'm getting my ass kicked a few times in this game. Fuck! Damn! Ass! Finally, I managed to defeat it. That's not the worst of it. The Cyclops is harder if you don't know what you are doing. Fuck Fuck FUCK!!!!!!!

So, after God knows how many times, I fought the cyclops I finally defeated it and proceed to the temple. Now this is where you are in fucksville. I promise you after 2 - 3 hits from the enemies in this area you're dead. So, after playing this game and dying a lot, I give up and I'm throwing in the towel on this game. So, I'm going to go see a Greek God and get a password from him.
