Welcome to metal album warfare Fridays here on the channel and tonight’s battle is between Leviathan-The Tenth Sub Level Of Suicide Vs Tentacles Of Whorror. Now Im sure any of you out there who love black metal will know about the USBM scene that emerged from beneath the soil back in the mid 90s and with it came a plethora of amazing bands like Judas Iscariot, Wolves In The Throne Room, I Shalt Become, Xasthur, Leviathan and more.

But of this infamous legion of hordes emerged a genre that would firmly establish itself as one of the predominant sub genres of black metal. DSBM, and of course more bands would emerge especially in the USA but also across the world that took note of what the earlier bands were creating.

Lest we forget also their European counterparts like Strid, Bethlehem,Forgotten Woods, and Burzum were also creating cold melancholic black metal that would also help lay the foundation for this genre. Leviathan however has become one of the gold standards of the genre. Along with his other project Lurker Of Chalice which is a blend of Doom/Black metal and incredible disturbing dark ambient, Wrest has become a living legend within the black metal underground.

Though it has been 7 years since his most recent full length titled “Scar Sighted” I am awaiting more releases from this tortured soul because he is truly amazing.
